I hope the Gumps put 50 on Nothing Dame
After watching part of the hour special on NBC yesterday I wanted to vomit. These " play nobody " teams like ND make me want to laugh out loud. They should have lost to Stanford and Pitt. I don't like the gumps but I will be pulling for them on the 7th!

ND represents everything that is wrong with college football. Play a crappy schedule, refuse to join a conference, and play for National Championship.
If they joined the ACC in football, I would still argue they played a crappy schedule.

I'm 100% for Notre Dame.
I'm good with ND having a shot ever 25 years or so.
They represent more good in the sport, in their athletes, in their program, than Bama. Regardless of the love that third parties give them. If you don't think Bama has a network, you've never heard 5 hours of Paul Finebaum. Bama has its own newspaper, aka Al.com. It has a whole fricking state.
Bama? Saban answers to no one. Not even the athletic director.
Bama - in the path of the gators each season - at least in theory - to get to a BCS game.
Bama- recruiting in the gator's backyard. And that means GA as well as FL, and the panhandle.
ND is good, Saban is evil.
I revel in the fact that my pure support for ND winning this game will - I hope - cause angst and perhaps backlash from those on this board. RELISH IT.
b/c at the end of the game, as the clock ticks down to zero, I'll still be a GATOR. a dyed in the wool graduate, with more than 250 games attended. And no one takes that away.
I'll have a toast, and say your names out loud - LOGARTOS - and then laugh.laugh I say!
Go irish!

Disagree with this whole post except Bama being in our way each year. Still agree with the OP.

What are you smoking?
ND has the support of the media and the voters. If any other team played their schedule, they would not be in the NC.
ND recruits in Florida and often goes head to head with several of Florida's recruits that are out of state as well.
Who does ND answer to? They get preferential treatment from the BCS and NCAA.
ND will be in Florida's path as well as they did this season!!!!!!!!!!!
There is nothing good about ND. They won two games this year because of crappy officiating. They cover up scandals of players committing sexual abuse. They put cameramen in danger during football practices, which led to one person being killed. Should I go on?

ND actually played a decent schedule this year for the first time in a while.
While I hate the media fawning over ND every year, I think there is a fair amount of jealousy over the media power they have.
They graduate more kids than anyone, rarely do they have any sort of scandal or run in with the law (although the tower death was tragic) and the kids generally play hard week in and week out.
I don't like them at all, but at least try to be objective about it. They do more that is good for college football than most other teams, including many if not most in the conference we root for each week.

Count me as another troll then. Bama ain't putting up 50 on anybody, let alone a team that can match it physically, like ND, and which has the kind of quarterback that can give it fits.
That said, Bama will likely win because officials refuse to call penalties on it. ND therefore has precious little margin for error.

They played more than a reasonable schedule and are a tough team. Alabama may win, but I personally think it will not be an easy victory if they do win.

Those that argue that Notre Dame plays a weak schedule are just wrong. Now, maybe USC and Oklahoma had disappointing seasons but still they beat them both on the road. Also, they don't oversign and their players graduate. I don't understand the resentment toward them. Is it really just because NBC broadcasts their home games?

ND played a bad schedule? Are you kidding? At OU, at USC, Stanford plus Michigan,MSU... That's better than Bama's schedule.

I don't like ND but they played a pretty decent schedule this year, at least as good as Bama's.

SEC BABY!!! No way do I want to hear the haters this year tell me the SEC is over rated. And that is exactly what will be said if Bama loses. Which they will not. The refs like Bama and will not be enough for ND to win this one.

No way do I want Notre Lame to win. I really do not want the Lucky Irish (thats what this season was, luck) to be labeled "The SEC Slayers" because you know that is what is going to happen.
Down with the Irish and their scumbag coach.

I root against both teams, but objectively, its better for UF if Bama wins. There is a true perception that the SEC is the best conference, which is good for getting a 1 loss SEC team into the big game. If Bama loses, than the media will have a field day talking about the decline of the SEC. Gotta fo with Bama on this one.

I feel the same way exactly. If it can be done, I hope they kick their A$$ even worse. The press will have a field day if Bama looses. Just makes me sick.

The perception (reality) that the SEC is the best conference is not going to change with the result of one game or even one season. I would love to see Bama lose. They remind me of Tiger Woods circa 2000. Winning majors with his "C" game and boasting of it. Nobody outside of Alabama that is interested in parity should want this to happen. They will only get better - much better.
