I'm not as convinced that we have what it takes at point guard to this point. Teams are going to continue to press the heck out of our guards before they get to half-court until we show that we can consistently beat them off the dribble and that makes us slow at getting are offense started and makes it less likely that we get our bigs open looks. Wilbekin did have a couple of nice drives to the hoop in the second half and if he keeps that up it should ease some of that pressure a bit. I do agree that he is our best option at this point.

What happened to the Murphy from the Wisconsin game. He has not been an offensive threat of any consistency since then. He was one of the main reasons that everyone was hyping up the potential of this years team, he and WY have both disappointed a bit since then. Hopefully they can turn it around and this team will get a nice run here starting next Saturday.

Finally, Bruce Weber ran a clinic on how to get people open for inbounds plays in the last two minutes of a tight game. If you noticed he would start his ballhandler's at about half-court when the five second clock started and then they would both sprint towards the basket versus our strategy of having six people standing around underneath the rim as the inbounder tries to find an open man. Hopefully Billy paid attention.
What happened to Murhpy since Wisc? He got injured and is playing through a hip pointer. I think this should not be discounted as he just looks alot more gingerly out there. If I was a casual observer I would think he has a tender back by the way he is moving.

The problem is we have no depth and would be in serious trouble without his minutes.

Grades for Murphy and Wilbekin seem pretty generous. One disappeared most of the game and the other tried to do too much. PG is still a question mark imo. Everyone else pretty much right on. Didnt think much of the coaching moves in the second half either, but then again I assume BD was trying his motivating thing again. Oh, and Fran F was horrible as the color analyst, I'll take Dykes any day over him.

The only positivei to take from this game was the play of Young, looked pi$$ed all night.

I thought Scottie played well.

Bad Game

I am pretty amazed you gave Young a ( and Wilbekin a 7, although, in fact, they appeared to be about the only Gators who merited much of anything on a really off night.
