I could care less that Kerry married into millions-I just care about how far to the left he is and that people that far to the left are appeasers and that he won't stand strong fo rthe US with either the UN or the Middle East

May I assume there is no Heinz ketchup in your fridge? None in mine. On a side note Mrs. Heinz Kerry was the happiest person when that election was over. Got to come out of the closet and take the duct tape off her mouth. Damn 1%'er.

Kerry as secretary of state raises the question of which is worse, swiftboating or waterboarding.

When John Heinz died, Kerry played catch-up with the widow.

From the article:
Sen. John Kerry has a long and dubious record in foreign policy.
In the 1970's, he testified against his fellow Vietnam War veterans before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. He charged that they were violating the Geneva Conventions every day in Vietnam. Some POWs were outraged at Kerry's disloyal statements. They said they had been tortured by their Communist captors trying to force them to make such untrue statements.
Worse, Kerry went to Paris in 1971. There, he met with North Vietnamese Communists. We need to see all his notes from those meetings. Any negotiation between a private U.S. citizen and a foreign power is illegal. It violates the Logan Act of 1798. Did Kerry demand of the North Vietnamese Communists that they abide by the Geneva Convention? Or is that only a demand he made of his fellow Americans?
We do not charge Kerry with treason in the statements and actions he engaged in then. Treason consists of giving aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States. But this country has set a very high bar for conviction for treason--ever since the Burr Treason Trial of 1807. Nonetheless, we do say Kerry's actions and statements then were not those to which America's top diplomat should be
linked. What was he thinking?

It certainly has. Otherwise Johnson, Reagan, and Clinton would have been behind bars. Kerry is small potatoes. (He's succeeding a gangster's moll, which some might call an improvement, at least in terms of human decency.)

BTW if we're going to talk about treason, I think Obama and both houses of Congress should be tried for fiddling while Rome burns. But then the people have chosen the fiddlers.

Kerry negotiated with the North Vietnamese? Don't you have to have some authority to negotiate?

It doesn't matter what Kerry's record on foreign policy is. What secretary of state has his or her own foreign policy? He or she adopts the foreign policy of the president, whoever that is.
Look at Colin Powell, who by all accounts was an honorable man, till he became secretary of state, his job then being to sell the lies of Bush and Cheney, to his eternal discredit.

Rather than just say you believe it because you read it on a rightwing website, you really ought to simply think about it. How can a private citizen negotiate for the US?

Perhaps Kerry should have married Jane Fonda. They both probably have "Team North Viet Nam" tee shirts from the 70s.

No, Kerry was representing the anti war movement in the USA. What he was doing was enabling the North Vietnamese and the USSR to make the negotiations more difficult for the US gov't. This enabling increase the risk to US Soldiers in the combat zone and the risk to the POW's.
Kerry knew full well what he was doing. He let his ambition for politics blind him thus having him betray his fellow officers and soldiers. Please note that Kerry is/was a officer. When he took his commission he was charge to do the following.
Quote:
@The President of the United States of America
To all who shall see these presents, greeting:
Know Ye, that reposing special trust and confidence in the patriotism, valor, fidelity and abilities of .................., I do appoint ["him" or "her"] a ["Second Lieutenant" or "Ensign"] in the [name of service] to rank as such from the .... day of ........ ...... This Officer will therefore carefully and diligently discharge the duties of the office to which appointed by doing and performing all manner of things thereunto belonging.
And I do strictly charge and require those Officers and other personnel of lesser rank to render such obedience as is due an officer of this grade and position. And this Officer is to observe and follow such orders and directives, from time to time, as may be given by me, or the future President of the United States of America, or other Superior Officers acting in accordance with the laws of the United States of America.
This commission is to continue in force during the pleasure of the President of the United States of America for the time being, under the provisions of those Public Laws relating to Officers of the Armed Forces of the United States of America and the component thereof in which this appointment is made.
Done at the City of Washington, this .... day of ........ in the year of our Lord ................ and of the Independence of the United States of America the ..........

Also Kerry took the following oath
Quote:
|
I, [name], do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.[1]

.
Kerry had every right to protest the war once he was out of uniform. He did not have the right to take action that put his fellow officers an subordinates at risk.

Quote:
These days, former Vietnam War POW Sen. John McCain has nothing but praise for his fellow Vietnam veteran Sen. John Kerry, the Democrats' current presidential front-runner.
But after he was released from the Hanoi Hilton in 1973, McCain publicly complained that testimony by Kerry and others before J. William Fulbright's Senate Foreign Relations Committee was "the most effective propaganda [my North Vietnamese captors] had to use against us."

North,
There's no evidence he put US soldiers at risk and the Newsmax quote from McCain is a phony. No matter how many times rightwingers keep repeating, McCain didn't say it.
