2 Weeks, 2 Campus Visits, 2 Decommits
What gives? Is this just a stupid statistical anomaly or did they see or hear something they didn't like?
Thoughts?

One was a kid we just flipped who reaffirmed his original commitment, the other a kid who had been hedging for awhile and wasn't a certainty. Besides, what would they see? Muschamp and Pease jello wrestling?

I had a bad feeling with demarcus after the day he committed because his mom/coach still wanted him at clemson (so they could get their checks).
But I still expected him to stick because it his choice and he obviously preferred UF, but I guess his coach/mom have too much influence over him.

Who wanted in, gave a silent commit, came down, then said thanks but no thanks... I can only think he saw something he didn't like as well

High school coaches had to do with both decommitments. They could be looking out for the kids best interest or they could be looking out for themselves. I actually think Powell's coach gave worse advice than Robinson. Powell is looking at 3 school that wont even take his commitment right now

Well he had not stepped foot on campus when he gave his commit. Also his family has had a really tough year with his father dying.

I agree, but once he stepped foot on campus it definitely changed his tune. Powell, Dawson, and Robinson would have definitely been good players

Maybe our coaches don't BS the recruits when it comes to playing time, and what they expect. We don't promise anything to these recruits. What coach does promise is a fair chance to play early, if they believe that player is the best at that position. Some recruits just can't handle having to try that hard for PT. Some expect to play right away. I applaud Muschamp for keeping this stance. Having said that if you're good enough, Muschamp has shown he has no problem starting a True Freshman.
Edit: I'm not saying this is what happened in D. Robs case, but it has happened in other cases.

I think the realization of being far from home hit him. He also just didn't like FLorida as much as he thought he would. Powell and Robinson are a different story. Robinson hurts because he literally would have changed the offense but we will still win football games.

My God. Did you guys not learn anything from 2009-2011? If a kid doesn't want to be a Gator we have plenty of kids like Mike Gillislee, Juice Johnson, Loucheiz Purifoy, and Antonio Morrison who do. Screw anybody that has to think twice about coming here.
P.S. When Ole Miss would steal a recruit from LSU, there was always a big NCAA investigation and usually probation- REAL probation. Why does Clemson get to "rob" from Top 3 programs with no such investigation? Any idiot can see there's money changing hands here.

My feeling is if we get Alex Collins we have all the WR class we'll need.

As much as I love Collins Robinson was a bigger need. Our current WR's cant get separation. But hey I dont mind us running it 40 times a game.

Can you please show us where we've gone off the ledge.
The "theme" of the OP was generated after a tweet from Zach Abolverdi after today's decommit.
I work in an area where I look at trends, and try to determine a reason for the trend. Granted, an n of 2 is not the best sample size, which is why I worded the OP the way I did.
Most likely there's no connection. But, if there is one, I'd like for the staff to understand what it is rather than not.

Understood, but when you start with the question "What gives?", IMO, the implication is of a growing or longstanding trend.

I'm not saying I want to dependent on the run. Yet, we have been talking about needing a big time DT still and maybe we do, ultimately. Ours staff and most others must want to have a complete team. There are teams that do very well on the season with slightly to seriously porous defenses and without an elite WR. What occurs to me is that IF you have a devastating run game it could do two things that offset our need for that DT/WR. One, if you are running the ball really well your DTs don't need to be one the field, and two, your pretty-good WRs are going to find it that much easier to run free on pass plays that force defenses to play up to it or have to subdue a beast after he breaks into the secondary. From what I saw in Collins' film it's a scary proposition.
Would we have a more complete team with that DT and elite WR? Yeah, but Alex Collins seems to be an absolute nightmare for defenses to play against, especially along with Lane, Taylor, Jones. What a sick stable of backs! I just think Collins offsets the DT need because he's going to move the chains and helps staff control the clock and that the WRs/pass games benefits as well, if the WRs we're bringing on board are pretty good and our QB can get them the ball. If it were not the case our QB is going to become a good-great passer in next couple seasons a back like Collins becomes more important than a WR I would think.
