How To Stop Working Out Involuntarily
I got fat over the years and decided to do something about it, so I started running, elliptical, and lifting a bit. Presto! Better shape than ever, went from 267 to 228, all is well.
Then two and a half weeks ago I ended up in the hospital with shingles, which has been the most unrelenting pain and irritation I've ever experienced. So, no running, nothing. We go on family vacation next week to the mountains, I might try some *light* jogging and pushups, but who knows.
The biggest issue is getting my psyche in order to adjust to the idea that I may have to take a month (or more) off. It sucks. Completely.
On the other hand, I always run better in the summer, so it might be impetus for a great series of runs over the next three months to target September as a rollout for my official new physique in a fall basketball league.
Either way, I'll be a year older. Getting old is hell.
