Gun Control
It's only fair to start a thread on what's sure to be wrong-minded screeching for Gun Control after this insanity in Connecticut. Here are some facts before the emotional left who never use common sense or facts to guide themselves start their caterwauling..
In major study of all multiple-shooting incidents in US, '77-'99, only 1 policy reduced deaths: concealed-carry laws. http://www.tysknews.com/Depts/2nd_Am...ings_study.htm
Mexico had something like 50,000 gun deaths and 100,000 weapons confiscated in the last 5 years. How many gun shops are in Mexico??? I'll let you look it up...

John Lott's research has long since shown to be bogus. He includes "studies" that don't exist. Moc, you love to post things that agree with you, but you never seem to have a clue whether they're valid or not.

Isn't Mexico sort of synonomous with gun deaths from incredibly well armed and brutal drug gangs? I am not sure that countries statistics are going to be analogous with what happens in the US.

These sorts of mass-shootings have a nasty habit of occurring in cities, states and countries which already have stringent gun-control laws.

Remember Bob Costas's comment about if guns weren't legal, they would both be alive? I didn't agree with that because he could have stabbed or found another way.
You can't argue that if these guys didn't have guns, then there would have been much less damage here and many lives would have been saved.
I'm not saying taking away all guns. I'm saying that whatever we have in place now isn't working and isn't good enough and there needs to be a compromise somewhere.
Very sad day for this country. I can't even fathom the damage that has been done to the community, families and friends.

What's truly disgusting is the way the LMSM has already begun touting Obama's U.N. gan ban treaty while these innocent childrens' bodies aren;t even cold yet. For them to politicize this is atrocious.
The ABC reporter at the WH breifing who asked Carney how this shooting could possibly help Obama's gun ban treaty was stupefying. Nothing is sacred to the LMSM... absolutely nothing.
Again, just think if these teachers had been trained to wear and use concealed weapons they could have probably stopped this slaughter before it took so many lives.

And yet, in cities like NY and Washington and Chicago that have strict gun ban laws, the criminal still manage to get weapons to kill people with.
There is no reasoning this. If this guy wanted to kill these children, he'd have found the guns illegally and still done it, gun bans or not.
This is about keeping guns out of the wrong peoples' hands, not out of the hands of decent, law-abiding people.

This is like asking how many drug shops are in the US. I'll give you a hint, there are two countries that border each other with the ability to easily fill the demand in both cases.

For those who believe tougher gun laws would've prevented the tragedy in Connecticut, here's food for thought. There was another mass attack on schoolkids in the news today:
Quote:
Knife-wielding man injures 22 children in China
1:48 a.m. EST, December 14, 2012 BEIJING (Reuters) - A knife-wielding man slashed 22 children and an adult at an elementary school in central China on Friday, state media reported, the latest in a series of attacks on schoolchildren in the country.
The man attacked the children at the gate of a school in Chenpeng village in Henan province, the Xinhua news agency reported. Police arrested a 36-year-old man, identified as villager Min Yingjun, Xinhua said. It did not give further details of the extent of the injuries.
There have been a series of attacks on schools and schoolchildren around China in recent years, some by people who have lost their jobs or felt left out of the country's economic boom. The rash of violence has prompted public calls for more measures to protect the young in a country where many couples only have one child. In 2010, a man slashed 28 children, two teachers and a security guard in a kindergarten in eastern China.

Nonsense... One IED, produced from everyday products, could cause 10x the deaths we saw today...

You have no idea what the motive was. If he even wanted to kill all of the children.
It's about keeping guns out of people's hands. I'm sure these guys were once decent law-abiding people. They might even have been when they obtained the guns.
