At 2. I've seen us ranked #1 and as low as 6th. Not bad at all.

I'm giving Rivals the most cred this year. I like 247sports, but they have a few of our recruits ranked a little too low. ESPN is tending to overrate our recruits this year, like they did back in 2010.
The services are getting better at evaluating a large number of players but the rankings themselves are a little arbitrary as they relate to the number of players in a class. I don't know how you can accurately asses a USC class that will only have 15 players in the end, even if they do average four and a half stars.

I think we'll end up second or third. USC can't really move up any more in terms of total points. UF's class is also getting pretty close to full according to our numbers. I see Bama finishing the strongest. They only have 19 commits so far but probably four or five of the remaining uncommitted five star prospects have Bama high on their list. UF will probably not get any more five star prospects.
That said, between our eventual signees and transfers, I like the new players we'll be putting on the field better than what they'll have. And no one will have a better DB class than UF. This group is as good as the group we signed in 2010, and I'm betting they all stay this time.

As 2009 should have taught us, # 1 recruiting classes don't necessarily count for much.
Assuming that most players from this class pan out to one degree or another, this class is a huge success whether we're ranked 1 or 7. We addressed depth concerns at key positions and filled our major needs with impact players.

Exactly,
Recruiting rankings are fun, but a little misleading when you start talking about the top 10 classes. We are number 2 on Rivals and GA. is all the way down at 9 . We have exactly 1 more 5 star and 1 more 4 star.
When you consider guys that don't pan out, guys that are overrated, and most importantly, not knowing who the real workers are in the class. It really makes it hard to distinguish between the top classes. We addressed our needs which is AWESOME!!

I am not sure how they rank the schools because it looks as if they go by their own opinion on the recruit rather than their stars. There are teams better than us on their star average with close to the same number of commitments that are ranked lower than us.

What stood out to me looking over those rankings was Texas. They usually get most all verbals in advance and wrap it up early. At least that's how it was during Muschamp's coaching time at Texas.
Now Texas has only 13 committed. Looks like in one year Texas A&M has taken over that state.. .34 already committed. Are you kidding me? I've never heard of any schools having that many committed with 7 weeks to go before signing date.

He's never been known for his recruiting and that's why I think Arky made a mistake hiring him.
Remember it was Bilimma (sp) that whined about Meyer's recruiting tactics at Ohio State.
Now that he's in the SEC, let's see if he changes his recruiting process.

It was Bielema's disdain, not for just Meyer, but the SEC as a conference that he railed about.
I can wait for his answer to that question when he has his first presser.

I'll take our class for balance and meeting needs. Stars aside, this looks like a monster class because of how well it fills out an already stacked roster.

To be fair, recruiting at Wisconsin is a different world than recruiting at places like UF. Imagine having literally zero 5 star recruits and maybe a few 4 stars in the entire state, at best. Bielema's recruiting was mediocre in terms of rankings/stars, but much better in actual PERFORMANCE which at the end of the day is what it's all about, right?
I have a hard time thinking of finding 2-3 star guys who end up being Montee Ball, James White, Nick Toon, JJ Watt, Travis Frederick (and like 6 other o-linemen now in the NFL), Chris Borland, etc. as poor recruiting...Will definitely be interesting to see how his style/results shift in the SEC.

Me too. I would take a couple of Bama's D linemen, but I wouldn't trade our RBs, our DBs, our OL or our WRs for the kids they have committed. Adding our OL transfers, our one JUCO and the number of EEs we have, I think we'll get a more immediate impact from our class than any other school. Let's not forget all the really promising players in last year's class that got redshirted. This could be be the most exciting spring in years.

I'll take 4th every year as long as we get the guys we need...

What's the appeal with usc? Kiffy is way over his head as usual. Do recruits get an extra something something with kiffys coeds?

The only ranking site that matters is ESPN they have a network and that's the one that casual fans hear about.
