I noticied that former Gator Jason Williams has been courtside at all of our games, with his son I believe. He was even in Tallahassee. He must really like this team. Is he living in Gainesville or nearby? It's nice to see him supporting Billy.
I noticed there was a young boy that looks just like Jason sitting next to him at the game. I'm assuming that's his son. If so, I'd keep my eye on him; if he inherits just a fraction of his dad's basketball talent, he's gonna be a good one.
One of the most incredible plays I've ever witnessed live was a Jason Williams play vs. FSU in the Milk Challenge in Orlando. Hard to even describe, but it was electrifying. The ref was baffled, so he called traveling on Williams. Slow-mo replays showed that there was no traveling.
Always remember the fsu player I believe named randall jackson sayin it was the best play he had ever seen..jwill wrapped the ball all the way behind his back on a dribble move and totally faked out the defender in the process

He passed it back to himself hitting it with his elbow.
Jason is a bit forgotten, partly because of his weed issue at UF, but he is Donovan's best pro PG to date...his game against UK is legend
When I first heard about him at UF, I remember being completely surprised when I went to the game and he was white
I remember in his days at Sacramento and even Memphis, I would order the NBA package just to watch him...SportsCenter would regularly have his highlights
One of the top ball handlers and passers in the NBA ever...his vision was uncanny
I used to have contact with one of our former assistants Tim Maloney, and I remember him saying JWill would eventually get into coaching. I wonder him being around has anything to do with it.
Apparently he still has it too...this is from this year in some NBA Alumni versus Taiwan game...does some razzle dazzle
This vid has a few UF highlights in the beginning. One of them (around :20 sec mark) appears to be against F$U at Amway. Is that the one you guys were thinking of?
Jason and Billy have remained very close, ever since Jason committed to Marshall. He came from a very difficult home environment and Billy has been the most stable influence in his life, even sticking with him when he made mistakes. Jason has been a fixture at UF camps over the years and remains very loyal to Billy and the UF program.
Jason Williams is the perfect example of the importance of choosing a school because of the head coach and how dedicated he is to being a mentor in all aspects of his life. Along with having a great career, Jason has grown up to be a devoted husband and father. There is no greater accomplishment for a head coach.
JWill getting into coaching, c'mon. Look he was a great player and I really loved watching him even though he wanted to fight me for hooking up w his girl. Despite that I would place him last of any former gator who could get into
Coaching.
I wish him the best though but life is also about knowing your limitations.
"He has been available more this year because he's not in the NBA or trying to get there. Jaxon, his son, is older and more interested. JW comes back every summer to work with the players and lives somewhat close."

Jason is a good guy who is generous with his time and an awesome person to talk to young player's about what it takes to be a great player. He recently spent some time with my 12 yr old son explaining how he as a kid woul go down to the gym and not play games but work on his ball handling. Then for a challenge he would do all his Ballhandling with Gardener gloves on and eventually had his mom sew a 2 lb weight in the top of his gloves so that when he took off his gloves to actually play his hands would be stronger and quicker. Very cool stuff.
He is living close by and loves Coach D and the Gators.
