Best start to a season in my lifetime
The 2006 was the most SURPRISING start but in terms of most impressive I've never seen one like this.
This team is a well oiled machine that just knows how to do their jobs.

Every guy seems to be playing at a high level, and the team chemistry is reminiscent of our championship teams. Great, great teamwork!

Agreed. It's scary how good they look. I keep wondering if maybe all their opponents are overrated. I wish we could have finished the G'town game. I think they'd have wiped the floor with G'town once they got used to the environment.

I don't want to get too excited but I agree completely. Its almost to the point where another elite 8 or final 4 is expected and not getting there might be somewhat of a let down.

Yea it is still early but I just can't imagine all these teams are that bad.
I don't think FSU is even an NCAA team but we could have won by 50 if we wanted, Wisconsin hasn't been overly impressive either but definitely an NCAA team, and Marquette should be an NCAA team too.
It's not just that we're 7-0 it's that it has been borderline laughable the difference in the teams in every game we've played.

It seems that all of Billy's preaching getting your points from your D is sinking in all at once. And add in the freshmen (esp Frazier) and this team is way ahead in the season's advancement. The question is will the remaining teams they play catch up?

I guess that's one way we could have kept it dry.

I told my wife towards the end of the game that I haven't seen so much love on the bench since the 04's. She agreed. These guys really get along great and really support each other and that is HUGE for championships teams..
We've got a helluava shot this yr.

Defense and experience go a long way in the regular season, conference or non-conference. They don't necessarily help as much in the postseason, when matchups and balance become paramount, but they set you up nicely at this stage. Should be a fun season.

It appears to be a very well balanced team with a solid 8 man rotation, which should be adequate depth to make it through the SEC grind.
As go73 noted, most of the games have been so one-sided as to be laughable. Interesting that UCF, Savannah State and Wisconsin have been the closest games.

Wisconsin is still a top 10 team according to Pomeroy's stats. How much you beat teams by matters. We're 3 in defense and offense right now and that hasn't even factored in today's game.

To me the most amazing thing about that game tonight was UF did not play that well. I thought UF was inconsistent on offense and when Young is 5 for 7 from the floor he needs more than 7 shots. Also of course 15 is too many turnovers.
UF was very good on defense for the most part, but some of it is that FSU is inept. It one thing to throw a pass that gets tipped, it is another thing all together to throw a pass the defender gets his entire body in front of???
It certainly was a nice effort and a great result. But as some said before the game, FSU is not very good right now.

Scary good is the only way to describe how the Gators look so far. I usually never fear out of conference opponents coming into McKale, but Florida is an exception. If both teams play up to their respective levels, the game will be epic. And if that happens, I think UF is just a better team and it will take some McKale magic for UA to win.

If you get a chance, how about giving us a quick scouting report on Zona? How deep is your rotation in non blowouts? Who is scoring? Who is rebounding? How is your PG play? Which of your Frosh are contributing?

Arizona plays three guards, and non are true point guards. Xavier transer Mark Lyons will start at point, but he's a shoot first guard. Nick Johnson will start at the two, and has been playing very well of late. Shooting well of late, and a slasher with great hops. The other guard that will get minutes is Jordin Mayes. All three can be turnover prone at times, so against Florida, it could be real troublesome. Soloman Hill returns to his natural position at the 3, and can slide to the 4 if needed. His 3-point shooting has vastly improved. Kevin Parrom can also play the 2-4 spots, and is a glue guy. Whatever Arizona needs, KP does. Rebounds, assists, big buckets, take a charge, etc., he steps up in big situations.
Brandon Ashley and Gabe Tarczewski (Zeus) are both freshmen big men and will start. Ashley has amazing upside, and Zeus is a true 7-footer that moves well, especially on the defensive end. We'll run plays for Ashley, but Zeus' game isn't polished enough yet to run an offense through him. He gets points on dunks and put backs. Ashley has a nice stroke from the outside, but is prone to freshmen mistakes. How Zeus handles Patric on the defensive end could decide the game. Two other big men get spot minutes, Grant Jerrett, a freshmen also with a huge upside, and a sophomore Angelo Chol, who is still very raw. In a close game, Jerrett and Chol will probably only share about 15 minutes.
Arizona plays exclusively man-to-man defense and will switch on most ball screens. We're quick, athletic, and long, but are turnover prone. We also shoot the 3 well and about 72% from the FT line. If Arizona holds on to the ball and has a good shooting night, the game will close. If Arizona turns the ball over or doesn't shoot well, Florida will run any team out of the gym this year.
