2013 WR James Clark of New Symrna Beach FL. to Ohio State
2013 WR James Clark 5-11 170
New Smyrna Beach FL
**********
So we have started to show serious interest in this kid from what I'm hearing. Anyone in the know that can tell me our chances of landing him at this point?
With Fulwood and Bailey already in this class, I could see this kid along with those 2 as being lethal in a passing game in a few years.
In Christ forever,
Mike

Clark is probably better than Bailey and more experienced at his position. I hope we get him. We got a couple of tall guys already. We can afford one more WR with average height and blistering speed.

According to ESPN, his only offer is from USF. Kind of strange....

clark better than bailey....no, but he's most definately faster. clark would be a terrific prospect for end arounds, jet sweeps, and screens. bailey will be used mostly downfield

I watched this kids video the other day, and if we are pretty much out of the running for WR's like North and Treadwell, then we need to jump on this kid. Looks like a stud with a year of development

One of Urban's wisest recruiting moves at UF was to offer Brandon James a scholly as KR/PR. And if anyone noticed, his production as a returner went down when we started to use him more in the offense.
There are 85 scholarships to go around. Special teams make such a huge difference. I have no problem devoting 1 of the 85 scholarships to a "jitter bug" type of guy who's sole purpose on the team is to return kicks and punts. It will alter the outcome of a lot of games.

Funny. Meyer actually didn't want James (didn't think he was good enough) but several assistants (unfortunately, I don't remember which) insisted that they offer him a scholarship and Meyer gave in.

Listening to assistant coaches and trusting their judgment would seem to be a sign of intelligent leadership.

Possibly, but I've seen more clips of Clark running routes and catching the ball and more of Bailey running from the QB position. Also, Clark caught 10 TD passes last year and Bailey caught three. These two have almost identical size, but I see very different roles for them, and probably the opposite of what you see. Bailey looks like a slot guy with his quickness and open field running ability and Clark looks like a deep guy with his top end speed and hands. Chris Thompson is pretty similar in size and also very fast. If we get/take Clark, I hope these three compliment each other.
I just hope Clark is still in play. Might see himself as a three star athlete and a five star student. Northwestern and Duke would be hard to sell against.

I agree that a return specialist is a must because they could be the difference in big games. The punt return at FSU was a big play in the game so you take an elite return specialist even if that is all they end up doing.

You can thank CS for us getting Brandon James. He is the coach that wanted him. If not for CS, he would have never been a Gator.

Actually the reason Brandon got a scholly was because of his brother. His brother was a highly recruited corner with offers from all over the country. They were a package and if you wanted one you had to take the other. What's ironic is Brandon's brother was kicked off the team for assaulting his girlfriend and Brandon ended up making a bigger impact than his brother.
