Oh gosh, not another Nick Saban comparison. We only have to play them most years if they win the West and we the East.

I’ll be putting this on the SG board too, but I just want to remind the younger Gators out here why I am particularly excited to see the son of “Mud” Harris as a Gator Commit.
Who is “Mud” Harris? As the article says, he played Free Safety for us, with his senior year being 1997. You may not know the name. he never played in the pros, to my knowledge. Didn’t have a “name” for being a headhunter, or an amazing player. So he might be a name lost to history. But for his one shining moment, we might not be celebrating the 1997 UF-FSU game as the arguably “greatest game played in The Swamp”.
The Noles were ahead by one point late in the 4th quarter and Travis Minor was heading for the endzone, on his way to scoring the touchdown that would make the game almost beyond reach, with time running out. I was watching it on my TV here in Knoxville, TN. Minor was speeding toward the northwest corner of the field, ahead of the Gator defender trying to run him down. That Gator had little chance of catching Minor from behind. But another Gator had a better angle. Mike “Mud” Harris. At the last moment, Mike came into the TV picture and got enough of a shove to push Minor out of bounds just short of the endzone.
The Gator defense regrouped and held the Noles on 3 straight plays, bending but not breaking. Bowden had a decision to make on 4th and goal. Kick a field goal, the safer option, or go for the icing touchdown. Even a failed attempt would leave the Gators on about the 1 yard line, 99 yards from a winning field goal with less than 3 minutes to go. Bowden made his decision and sent out Sebastian Janikowski, the “Polish Powder-keg”, to kick the easy field goal. The Noles were now up by 4, forcing the Gators to score a touchdown to take the lead. Janikowski, confident that his kick had just won the game, mocked the Florida Field crowd with a “chomp-chomp”.
The Johnson-to-Green pass, the two Fred Taylor runs-to-glory, the Dwayne Thomas interception of Thad Busby’s last pass, all of these are well known to anyone with a YouTube account. I won't review them, as they are too well known.
But if Mike “Mud” Harris hadn’t sprinted across the field from his left safety spot, on what must have been a hamstring-straining effort, if he had not pushed Minor ever so slightly out of bounds, indeed, if Mike Harris had simply said “I can’t catch him.”, the greatest of Gator memories might never have happened.
One fellow who NEVER forgot Mud, who never failed to give him the credit for his actions, was the Gator Head Ball Coach, Steve Spurrier. He knew that everyone would remember the dramatic touchdown and interception, but knew they were only possible, were only relevant, because of a little-noticed and long-forgotten effort by an unheralded team player: Mike “Mud” Harris.

I see where you're going, but keeping up with Lou Saban isn't that big of a deal anymore.
