Women vs Fairfield, Friday 4 PM
Just heard on the pre-game that Jennifer George is out (not sure why?).
Somewhat worried now as Fairfield is a pretty good mid-major (23-9 last year).

Fairfield led 15-9, but we have come back to tie 15-15 at the 2nd media timeout. Bonds sitting with 2 fouls. Pretty sloppy so far as would be expected.

12-0 run, 32-20 Florida, just over 4 to go in the first. Gators starting to get some nice steals and open court 3s.

34-24 at the half. Pretty good first half, a lot of freshman mistakes (from the upperclassman too), but nice effort overall. Decent shooting and 9 steals with only 7 turnovers.
Kayla Lewis is looking great - 10 pts from all over the floor
McIntyre - 8 pts, 1 block, 2 fouls in 8 minutes
5 pts each for Needles and Cooper, Cooper had a couple big steals also
Moss 1-8 from the floor, but filling up the stat sheet with 5 reb, 4 ast, 3 stl. She is going to be really good.
Returners Bonds and Svete have struggled, hopefully they will show a bit better in the 2nd half

48-39 at the under 12. Struggling with rebounding and defensive rotations. A few nice plays though from Christen Mercer, who did not play in the first half.

Mercer really looks good - reminds a lot of a young George. Have to wonder if she was suspended for the first half???
54-42 on a steal & layup by Bonds. TO Fairfield.

Bonds picks up her 4th foul (all on charges I think). She sits with 8 minutes to go.

71-49 final. Pretty awesome considering 60 of the 71 points came from girls who weren't suited up for the Gators a year ago.
Sydney Moss goes 9-10-9, 1 point and 1 assist away from a triple double in her debut.
McIntyre and Lewis led with 12 each, but 7 players with 7 points or more.
Hope George is back soon - this team has A LOT of potential.

It was a great game and fun to watch (even with the sloppy play).

Hoping the George situation is nothing too serious. This team has a lot of potential. There are probably going to be a lot of ups and downs this year. A lot of talent for the future but extremely young. The best part about this team is it should be much better as the season goes along and they gain some experience. The youth on this team is more talented than the few veterans, outside of George...I am wondering how that plays out over the course of the year. I actually prefer a starting lineup of Needles, Cooper, Lewis, George, and McIntyre with Moss as the first off the bench with her ability to play 2-4.

I agree that that would be an exciting lineup.

Thanks for the posts. I wasn't able to make it and appreciate the info.

@GatorZoneWBK tweeted that she was out for "personal reasons" and would be back on Sunday.
Sounds to me like a suspension they don't want to call a suspension.

Fantastic debut!!! Those Butler doubters are not happy! Unreal freshman performance. if George and Dimaite were playing might have been a 30 plus point blow-out. Cant wait for Sundays game.
