Caution re: Frazier
By all accounts he played great. By all accounts the mentality and shot are there.
However, he is a frosh and was playing inferior competition that likely put little effort into scouting him.
I've read some ridiculous posts regarding what he is going to do this yr. I hope they are right but lets temper expectations.
I remember Kendrick spreul lighting up all American Paul pierce as a frosh basically never to be heard from again. So be cautious when you extrapolate a season or a career based on 1 exhibition performance although I certainly hope that was just the beginning.

I would be very happy if he could provide 10 productive minuets off the bench. His shooting ability could really help with floor spacing.
If he picks up defense and rebounding he could really be a factor.

It was a good start but it's a long season and the competition will get a whole lot better.

No way to know. Did he defend well? Because that seems to be the easiest way to get on the court as a freshman for Donovan.

Just last year Beal went 4 for 7 against Catholic U and turned out to be a 34% shooter from the arc. So yes, I too have been saying let me see him do this a second time before I start thinking he is a proven consisten shooter.

True, however a pure shooter is a pure shooter.
There aren't too many of those.
And there is no doubt Frazier is a born pure shooter.

While I agree with the fact that it is way too early to start prognosticating, we cannot underestimate the value of his having seen a freshman get picked third in the NBA draft who basically played the same position he is playing.
That motivation and therefore the results could carry through the entire season I hope. To play in the role of the great Bradley Beal in and of itself has to provide tremendous incentive.

He did defend pretty well. Obviously, it's tough to judge against that type of opponent, but his intensity and focus on that side of the ball was great. I didn't see any glaring missed assignments from him either. I think he'll probably be the freshman who earns the most minutes, but I wouldn't expect him to play much more than 10-12 minutes per game once we are into SEC play.

Frazier has the frame of a 4th year player, shot form is grade A, defends with aggression, is extremely athletic, works hard, and was the first guy off the bench. He is gonna be good, really good. Is he a Brad Beal? No but geez they don't come around often. Was he a little underrated by recruiting services? Heck yeah. D. Graham looked hecka solid too.

Didn't everybody on the team get to play? But one kid lit it up. I am very glad he became a gator. Will he be Bradley? Who knows, but I think at this point he has shown a sweet stroke, is physical and can play defense. I believe we have no choice but to start him. Boynton pg, Frazier 2g, Prather wing, yegette pf, young c, so there you go. This kid is no Kendrick Spruel. Most athletic team in the SEC.
Here is the problem Billy has, so far the freshmen play the way Billy likes, they shoot the three and can drive to the hoop. He has to train them to also keep the bigs in the game. Billy likes to play his seasoned players, but after one game, the writing on wall says "the Freshmen have game" so how long do I keep them on the bench.
Frazier physically is ahead of the rest of the freshmen and like Beal is ready for primetime minutes. To keep him on the bench would only slow down the Gators from ripping out other team's throats.

no doubt he will have his ups and downs but he is a physical specimen. He can shoot the rock at a high clip and if he can keep his fouls and turnovers down, well then.... it doesn't take a genius to see that he is going to play a ton of minutes

freshmen, in the past, have hit a wall coming down the stretch - just not used to the rigors of college ball. of course, lately, w/ nearly year-round hoops w/ AAU teams, etc, that 'wall' may not be as tough to climb, lately.
i'm excited to see all the freshmen contribute in meaningful ways - in the first exhibition game. that's remarkable. i think that immediately lengthens the bench for BD. he has to be alot more confident about putting the newbies into the games. keeps the team - and individuals fresher - down the stretch....and to make a run in the ncaa's (not looking too far ahead).

Better to see him have a great game than to not. People will form their own expectations as the season goes. Frazier can only be looked at as a positive plus going forward.

You clearly did not watch any Monteverde games on ESPN last year. It was not clear from those games that he was the kind of shooter he was the other night.
