If this has to happen it is the perfect time for it...during the transfer year.

Concerned with Prather and his ball handling. Sounds like a carry-over from last year.

That is my view too. He does need to get stronger, but he will still have time. He can spend the year getting to know the system, even if he can not play for a bit.

This is a huge blow to our team. It was extremely important for young especially but all guys to practice against him. He is prob the best shot blocker we would face all yr.

Yeah, I agree. Practice against our regulars would have been valuable.
I hope that the note on Prather is a caution for him to realize that he is not playing up to expectations. As in "if you want to start at sf, start playing my way."

I had a torn labrum and had surgery, it keeps popping out otherwise. Smart for him to get it fixed sooner than later but could technically wait until the off-season if not beyond serious

Huge blow to our team? Right. Queue the NIT bid. Yes, it hurts some in practice, but that is about it.

Except for Harris, this is all pretty much as one might expect things to develop.

Yes it is a huge blow. Never said anything about NIT as it appears you made an illogical leap.

Why do surgery now? He's not going to play anyway, so give him a year in our system and let our guys practice against him.

Some folks can't tell sarcasim.
And it's not a huge blow. Patrick Young out until March would be a huge blow, not a transfer sitting out.

It is a huge blow and I have explained why. If you disagree explain yourself.
However, I should warn you up front I'm right on this so if you disagree you are wrong.

I would say a "big blow" only applies to guys who will play in games. I see the reasoning behind the thought process...but I'd say it's a minor blow to the season in general in the big scheme...

You are wrong and I am right. Billy called this a "significant loss" for the team. So billy basically cited the same reasoning as me. Wow, I guess I'm right again as I warned you.

The silliest, most inane arguments ever on sports message boards is to quote the coach and to think that stops the discussion. Coaches say things for lots of reasons. As I said about Wilbekin and Prather, it could be they are playing about the same but Donovan thinks Wilbekin needs building up and Prather needs a kick in the butt. So quoting coaches and saying see I am right, causes everyone else to read see I can not think for myself.
Donovan MUST of course call the injury to a new person in his program a significant loss. [Really he must say that about an injury to any of his players.] He needs to make Harris feel a member of the program and encourage him to work hard to get back. The importance of that loss in reality is a debatable point and the debate is not ended by quoting a coach who said what his position required him to say.
I personally do not think it is huge though I certainly understand that Young could benefit from practicing against an athletic shot blocker. Whether one wants to call that significant or not, is a matter of opinion. How many more games do you think UF will lose this year because Harris can not practice?
