Is there even a ship to offer him to "earn" back like Frankie Hammond did? That would be a tall order given that Frankie is an honor student and all SEC caliber athlete in two sports. The scholarship roster will be very crowded next fall, assuming we've got a ship or two left to give to the class of 2013. If Cody doesn't step up and UF signs Embiid, it's kind of a moot point.

I certainly hope (and, because it's Billy, trust) that Donovan was honest with Larson about his chances of earning the scholarship back. If Billy told Cody that the latter could win his scholarship back by working hard on the court and pulling his stuff together off the court, provided there was a scholarship available (as the program would continue to recruit players for the 2013-2014 season), then that's fair. I would just hate to see a situation where somehow that second clause didn't get communicated, Larson objectively performs to the standards Billy sets and then doesn't get the scholarship back because we signed Randle or Embiid or whoever.

Doesn't suck for Cody. If you can believe what he's saying, sounds like it's the best thing that could have happened for him.

It certainly worked for Frankie Hammond. He had a great football season, was Academic AA and then made all conference in track and field.

jedi mind trick, seems to be working

if Billy doesn't see potential in him and actually wants him to be with us then he would've been given his outright release and told "see-ya!"

there is a reason why he hasn't

Billy D would not have been able to provide a scholarship to Cody in the future either, given serious interest by highly regarded recruits in these spaces.

Adam Allen transferred and is playing at Rollins???, not UF

How dare you! Billy is always 100% honest with the media. How dare you!

The board has collectively decided this time and time again and we will not accept any disagreement unless of course it suits a particular point. I mean um forget that last part.

I know it's comical. What makes it even more funny is that his mentor is one of the coaches who was one of the first to really master the craft.

typically speaking, the coaches with the most success in the last generation are master manipulators whether it be Pat Riley, Phil Jackson, John Caliperi, even Mike Krzyzewski. All HUGE BS'ers.

you think Coach K. is a nice guy? The guy is a West Point grad who learned under Bob Knight. The only thing that equals his intelligence is the intensity of his drive and shrewdness. His biggest weapon is his nerdy/nice guy appearance. But don't fool yourself, he will rip your throat out if you get in his way.

Coaches (particularly in basketball) and leaders in general are generally full of BS.

Pitino was and is still great at this. I don't even mean it as a back-handed compliment either. Its hard to tell many big-name coaches apart from politicians sometimes. It can serve them well though.

I sense the "Billy said it, I believe, it, that settles it" faction growing restless.

Apparently Donovan has left the door open for Larson to return if, in a few weeks, Larson starts to feel the love again. SIAP, but apparently he said something along the lines of, "If Larson changes his mind and confronts his teammates, we would take him back." Apparently he was playing the best ball of his career when he decided to quit.

I just don't understand why Billy would want Larson back? Been a constant headache, a repeated issue with discipline, and he didn't do what he needed to do to keep his scholarship. Plus, he can't even compete at the SEC level.
