So we're pre-emptively denigrating and explaining away Meyer's success at Ohio State. This is perversely impressive.

I'm definitely not trying to do that. I just dont believe he has the same fire and ambition that it takes to compete at a high level. I could be dead wrong though.
Ps. Steelers suck

It's not like Meyer took a step up in competition. He literally couldn't do it at UF year after year, it was killing him... so he led us to believe. He's going to be happier there now. He does have the chance to never play an SEC team for a NC. He doesn't need a Tebow and Harvin anymore, just needs to beat mediocre teams, campaign for his team, hope the chips fall in his favor.

It's this simple with Meyer. He was too sick to coach in 2010 and he tried to delegate. It didn't work so he resigned so he could take time off to manage his health, but there's no way he would retire. I don't know if he had the OSU job in his sites all along, but there was an opening there. He would have been a fool not to take it. He would have been a fool not to have set himself up for it like he did. Most of us would have done the same thing.

He did great things while he was here. He handled his exit very poorly, and his re-entry into college football even more poorly.

Ahhh to hell with Meyer.
His team cheated their ass off and can't play for squat because they are cheaters.
His conference is weak and that's what he wanted. Way to follow the yellow streak road Urbie. Bowden part deux...wish you'd left sooner rather than just cashing a check in Gainesville while player discipline and coaching went out the window.

All I know is Florida has a coach BOOM now and he's going to be a good one. You would be hard pressed to find another coach who has as much fire as BOOM! I'm not going to say he's going to be the best coach FLorida has ever had becuase it's to early. I will say I would not be surprised if that happend. I think he will be at Florida for a long time.

So what are your thoughts on the '06 and '08 Championships? Not trying to call you out or anything, I am just legitimately curious.

I think his point was more focused on the way he went out and to the program he went to. I'm sure he appreciates the titles.

Tell you mine, sort of. On one hand I think Tebow, Harvin, Dan Mullin. OTO, Meyer brought us those guys. It's worth recognizing Meyer's just as much a beneficiary of those winners as we fans.
I'll say this though, the 2006 SECCG vs Arkansas is as good a game as I've ever seen in person, perhaps one of the great SECCGs yet. Meyer and co were unreal that game. Chris Leak got off, Percy got off, the team was brilliant. Meyer looked like he and Mullen were making decisions real-time trying to win the game. It was just unbelievable.

I understand, I'm just thinking if we never got Meyer at all, Where would the program be?? I'm sure we would have done fine... but fine as in maybe an (1) SEC championship? Tough to say. I know he didn't handle his exit well, and I honestly believe he would have sat out for awhile after leaving Florida... But honestly, who saw Tressel ever being fired from Ohio St.? I think that was the only job Meyer would have jumped for, and he did, because he is an Ohio native.

I think this is why it rubs me the wrong way when people drop a paragraph of straight Meyer bashing. I went to a lot of those games, and for the most part, were some of the best, most fun, games I have ever been to.
And having possible scenario's of Tebow going to Bama or Harvin staying up North... scary!
And a lot of our guys that are producing this year were from Meyer's last class.
But what it really comes down to is, he doesn't hurt us by going to Ohio St. and we are better off with Muschamp.

For what its worth, multiple players have told me that he had his eye on the Penn St job planning to take over for Joe Pa until that scandal broke. Then OSU conveniently got in trouble and he found another seemingly perfect opportunity.
He was setting himself up to come back, we all knew that even though we didn't want to believe it. Just heard him say on ESPN he hopes the Gators win it all this year though.
Just food for thought.

I doubt Meyer wins another NC at Ohio State. Once he is "humbled" more of us will be able to give him his due credit for bringing the right elements together to win us two NCs. I suspect Meyer recognizes the tremendous contribution to his legacy Tebow/Harvin/Mullen made. It's probably that over time once it looks like he couldn't have done it without UF/Tebow/Harvin/Mullen many of us will get over our feelings of betrayal. Heaven forbid he wins another NC up there though.
