Preseason magazines again high on Gators
Brockway looks at what a couple of preseason mags have to say about UF. Here is the first pair:
Quote:
A pair of major preseason magazines thinks Florida has what it takes to make another deep NCAA Tournament run.
Lindy’s picked Florida to finish second in the Southeastern Conference, behind Kentucky. Athlon, meanwhile, has Florida third in the SEC, behind Kentucky and Missouri.
Lindy’s ranks Florida No. 17 in its preseason Top 25. Athlon has Florida at No. 20.

Nice to see Brockway back at work after a five-month vacation. I need his job.

The funny thing is that these two mags are actually down on UF compared to others and for example Lunardi's seeding.

Ah, tweeting: where journalism meets laziness. Apparently Brockway had to check himself into the hospital and get IV fluids because of the fatigue he developed from writing the above blog post. He has joined the rest of the Sun sports staff in having a medical aversion to consistent production.

Oh great....Mizzou's program is making the SEC East even MORE brutal now.
Texas aTm should be in the East and Mizzou in the West.

no more divisions correct....and 15-20 is about right....at least to start the season....and this is by far the toughest schedule ever for BD at UF on paper so we may take some lumps in OOC, but will be battled tested come March

Not according to the latest SEC basketball alignment...and geography.

I think its hard to tell going into this year. IMO, nothing is clearly defined at the top. Its hard to even know who belongs at the top. I think, of the top 10-15 teams, SO much is going to depend on which teams click and which just don't. While this is always the case, I think its especially so this year.
I think Florida could easily be top 5, but its so hard to tell at this point because of how many question marks there are with other teams. Its also possible Florida ends up 10-15. I'd error on top 5 at this point though. Either way, this year, I don't think the difference between 1 seeds and 3 seeds is going to be all that much.

I thought a writer had to write something not copy and paste.
Now that he posted that I'm sure he is done with his preseason "work".
Interesting facts: brockway is German for lazy. In Finnish brockway means incompetent. Coincidence?
I think UF college of journalism should retract his diploma to save their own rep.

Agreed. You never really know what you are coming in with, even with all of our returning players. Same with UK. Both have very high ceilings, in my opinion, but it's also possible that neither ends up in the sweet 16. Unlikely, but possible.

Speaking of possibilities it is entirely possible
Although unlikely that uk goes winless.

Does someone pay brockway or is he just a social media whore, while collecting unemployment?

Since there's so much Brockway talk in this thread, it's probably a good place for a question I have. Obviously he's not popular with many of you, is this something common to most/all UF fans? If so, why? Is it just the laziness or lack of original content some of you have referred to, or is there more?
Kentucky fans have a local media guy (Jerry Tipton) who is enemy number 1 when it comes to the locals I guess. Most teams seem to have "that guy." The one always searching for the negative - always looking to diminish the positive. I've followed Brockway on Twitter for a while and might have picked up on this tendency with him as well. Is this perception correct?

The reason Brockway is not liked is that he is embarrassingly lazy. He provides no inside insight despite being the only local beat writer. He steals story ideas from message boards. He lacks original thought or analysis. He does way too many copy and paste stories from other sites. He just is not good at his job. He does almost no work in the offseason. He does barely any work in season. He provides no information on recruiting. I would guess players hate him because they rarely talk to him. He can't be critical because that would involve original thought, which appears to be his kryptonite. should I go on?

I think the frustration with Brockway reflects the absolute indifference towards Florida basketball local and regional media show. We get far more out of the national guys at places like ESPN than we ever do out of the Gainesville Sun. Just another reason why this is a terrible hoops school--even the media ignores the team. I honestly don't know how Donovan has dealt with being this overlooked on a regular basis.
