Anyone think we have any kind of shot?

Absolutely we have a shot and unless uoung returns we are going to get Randle

I'm not trying to suggest you won't, but is this something you're actually hearing?

Yes, we are definitely up there in the top 3 for Randle. I think the post-season tournaments (mainly the Jordan one) will help push Randle one way or the other, but I really believe that Young is coming back.

Randle = Kansas. The quicker people come to grips with this, the better you guys will be.

I don't know what's wrong with me tonight, but I read your previous statement wrong. I never would have questioned you guys having a shot and still think any team has a shot.
I hope Young comes back, but don't see how that should automatically turn Randle off to UF (not that you're absolutely saying it would). I think Randle would be the perfect 4 (and a better one, especially early on, than Walker) to go along side Young at the 5. I realize UF's front court could be very crowded, but think Randle is good enough he shouldn't be too worried about getting PT wherever he goes.

The Kentucky class is going to be ridiculous when all is said and done IMHO!

It is already ridiculous. Why are they still recruiting more players?

Have walker and hill qualified, yet. Thought I heard a while back that walker still has work to do in the classroom!

Our team next year will be equally as talented if not better than KY. Remember we get DFS and Harris that had to sit out this year. All that I've heard is that DFS is the best player in practice, on the whole team! Wilbeken, Frazier, Young, Prather, Yuguette, DFS, Harris, Walker, Hill, etc. Our team is gonna be deep and loaded!!

We need players--I expect us to lose all 4 freshmen, Harrow, and Wiltjer and perhaps Hood. I think we add one or two more by the time the smoke clears.

Many people have made the statement about DFS being the best player on the team, so I'm not calling you out. I just hesistate when I hear something like that. UK has ALWAYS had that guy who just wasn't eligible yet who is dominating practice and just wait till next year... Almost always, the player doesn't live upto the hype. Last year we heard Ryan Harrow was owning Marquis Teague. The year before it was Kanter - who we never got to see but had a very slow start in the NBA. Not long before that we were hearing that the "best player on the floor" in pick-up games was highschool senior John Hood (pickup games that involved Patrick Patterson). Well he's a RS Junior and how's that looking now? I'm not saying DFS doesn't come in and dominate, for sure, but I've gotten to where I take a wait and see approach. Transfers, historically, usually aren't world changers - but there are exceptions.
I think if UK adds 1 or 2 more, then UF and UK are the nations top two teams next year - its just a matter of what order. There are "some" who believe that UK will get Wiggins and Randle. That sounds crazy to me, but if it happened, I'd be hardpressed not to have them at number 1. Alot depends on who returns (mainly Poythress and WCS, also Young). Of course, you have to see how quickly the freshmen can adjust to the college game.
No way Florida has more NBA talent next year than the Cats, so your statements depends on how you qualify talent. This honestly doesn't matter, as this years Florida team doesn't have as much NBA talent as UK but is the superior team. Its all about which team is more effective in college next year. A lot needs to be settled before we know that.

I've heard a bunch of this stuff about DFS being "the best" on the team. Are there any links to something that has someone in the know saying this?

I've seen it. Some on here know my info is good. As for the recruiting stuff, I'm not going to repeat the same thing over and over in different threads. All I will say is, I've sat in the locker room and talked to Billy about recruiting recently, and some of the stuff I read on here is humorous to say the least.

I've seen it too, but then I remember reading things like this about Macklin and Rosario. Both played well for UF, but neither was the best player on the team once we were able to see them play for real.
I do not know if this is hyperbole on the part of people who observe practice or if transfers play free and easy with no worries about game pressure during their transfer year or something else. Still, I expect both Harris and Finney-Smith to play starter minutes and likely start next year. As with all players there will be areas where they can improve.

NBA talent and college talent are two different things. UK this year has much more NBA talent than UF. How is that working out?
Two classic examples of great in college and flame-outs in the NBA are Rick Mount and Ernie ('No D') DiGregorio. There are many other examples.

If you're talking pure talent, Kentucky's freshman class alone has as much talent as our entire team, and they're not even done yet. The question is whether they will play like this year's Kentucky freshmen or last year's Kentucky freshmen.

Yeah, I agree. I made that same point in my post.
By talking about UK's talent, I'm not bragging. You don't get awards for talent. Cal has had 4 classes of freshmen and in 3 of the 4 the majority of the freshmen played better than typical freshmen. This definitely wasn't the case this year, but I'm still confident about next year - while acknowledging that anything is possible.
