HGH epidemic?
Was talking with an old friend, he rushed, pledged, I didn't.
2 years later the dude is 2 inches taller, and 40 lbs heavier. Almost no fat. He attributes it to cheap HGH from the house dealer.
Apparently, most frat guys are on it.
What are the side effects?
Tried to get him to stop, but you know...

Doubt the kid's getting actual HGH. Probably getting some horse testosterone from Mexico. The legit stuff from anti-aging clinics isn't cheap. It also happens to work on everything, not just muscles.
I doubt there is any epidemic but the majority of PED users are recreational gym rats just looking to get huge or lift heavier shit. Check out the documentary Bigger, Faster, Stronger some time. Its good stuff.

Less than it used to, but yeah. You're probably looking at $20k for a year, minimum.
The side effects are pretty obvious, as it tends to make everything grow, it will enlarge organs which can always cause problems.
But as has been stated here, he probably isn't on actual HGH.

Apparently, the undersized AEpi kid gets it from his doc. Lie or not, probably a bad idea injecting yourself with anything

I've been doing research on all supplements, including HGH, and the truth is that the body's organs only grow in a very, very small sample of people. In fact it's fairly rare. However, that is just one of the main reasons you should never do it without medical supervision. Other reasons are dormant cancer cells in your body and the heavy tax burden HGH has on your liver.
