So my mother bought my brother's old iPad the other day. I created an appleID for her on it (so she could puchase songs (USING ITUNES GIFT CARDS ONLY) but it requires credit card information to finish ur account. Is there a way around this, do I have to give them that info? Just a little annoyed here... She never uses her CC online, only gift cards. (afraid of private info being compromised)

I'm not sure if there is a way around it, they probably want it in case you charge something to the gift card that you don't have the money on the card for.

When ive bought stuff off itunes, the charge wouldn't show up until a few days later.

You could always try calling apple support.

Probably going to have to do that. Or just use my brother's account ID/ password. He already has an account with them. Was going to wipe the thing clean, but realized I didn't need to do that if all I wanted was an AppleID account. It kept asking us for my brother's password. Unfortunately, he lives on the other side of the country, and we can't reach h by phone ATM. Probably best to just get his password, really. Kind of sucks, though, because this is her iPad now. Whatever, maybe I'll call support up and see if there's a way around this.

I'm sure there's a way around this. I know there are kids with apple accounts and only use gift cards. I used to give them to my niece and nephew and there's no way their parents would link that account to their credit card. Of course, in this ever changing world, who knows?

I've had the same problem. I just used my friend's log-in details instead.
