Is High Fructose Corn Syrup Worse Than Regular Sugar ?
Quick answer: NO. Witness the glaring inconsistencies in one study:

The alarmists need to stand down and stop making life miserable for the rest of us.

What do you mean by regular sugar? White sugar? If so, then you're probably right.
That said, I think you are looking at things the wrong way. Instead of trying to dial back the alarm over HFCS (which is right where it should be), you should be more focused on dialing up more alarm over white sugar.

It's all sugar. And I've currently got about three pro-sugar threads going.
And no, the sugar industry is not paying me. But they probably should be.

I'm certainly not an expert on nutrition. In general sense, I don't know that it's any worse but, as a type 2 diabetic, my understanding is that it is worse, from the standpoint of blood sugar, than table sugar even though sucrose actually has fructose in it.

Rippe Institute study showed no atherogenic changes in blood profile, even when four times the RDA's of HFCS and sucrose were consumed, in the context of (and this if the key) a WEIGHT-STABLE diet.

Yes, because weight stability is the only metric worth tracking for health and longevity. Immunity and inflammation have no place in the equation.

This and other studies debunk the hocus-pocus arguments that sugar is ipso-facto dangerous. What is dangerous is too many calories. You've found a way to contain calories. Good for you!
The average lifespan of primal man was ... wait for it - about 20 years.

All I can say is, you're doing a real disservice to GC readers who come here looking for advice that will allow them to be healthier.
For the rest of you reading this, you trust Dreamliner OR you can do what I suggest and see for yourself. Take two weeks in which you don't consume any table sugar or HFCS. See how you feel. If you don't notice any improvements -- whether they be energy levels, mental focus, mood stability, whatever -- then go right on back to what you were doing. I'm not asking you to take my word for it like Dream is. I'm saying to see for yourself. That's what I did, and that's why I'm here to tell you that his approach -- while supported by plenty of research -- does not bear out with real people in real, everyday life eating real meals.
It's two weeks. What do you have to lose?

And I'll counter by challenging readers to drink 12 oz. of okra juice a day for two weeks. Try it and see how you feel. Only two weeks. What do you have to lose ?

Why would I mock a person who swaggers into the "Why We're Fat" thread hawking the "ultimate diet" ? Who do you think I am, a guy who mocks people willy-nilly ?

Hawking? Hawking would imply that I'm some sort of salesperson. Say what you want, but don't try to paint me as a scam artist. I have zero to gain from sharing my opinions here.
And regardless of your motivation to mock, any such post is still absent of intellectual effort.

Says the guy who maintains that science has proven that paleo is the "ultimate diet."
Look, if you want me to stop mocking ... you're going to have to take some responsibility around here.

And while we're on the subject of paleo, check out my new theory. There are roughly two types of Americans:
(1) Americans who are gluten-intolerant and
(2) Americans who want to be gluten-intolerant.

When on a diet I only go on a calorie diet. Why? The higher levels of calories are in fats that are found in animal fats, highest--vegetable fats second. On a calorie diet you would lower your consumption of fats and therefore eat more fresh fruits and vegatables. I think the carbo diets are ridiculous. On a calorie diet one of the tricks is to consume small amounts of sugar. Why? There are only 18 calories in one teaspoon of sugar and no fat. Plus it relieves hunger. For instance one teaspoon or 2 in a glass of ice tea. max 36 calories. On a 1,200 calorie diet that is not much. Granted if the sugar is not used it can be converted to fat but so do all the calories. I also suggest that you not do strenous exercising or running while on a diet because it makes you very hungry and it so much more difficult to stay disciplined. Stretching is good and keeps muscle tone. Small weights is good for the same reason.

People who are truly gluten intolerant desperately wish they weren't. Trust me, I lived with a celiac and any accidental ingestion led to a very bad evening.
Also, a fun fact during the time I was in this relationship I definitely got to the worst shape I can remember being in. All while eating mostly gluten free foods and keeping a gluten free apartment.
