225ish by his JR season, he's got some serious potential.

Taylor may well be a good RB in the SEC, but I really think the other RB commit, Lane is going to be better.
His density, low center of gravity and speed will make him a good RB. The two make nice combo.

From the Rivals guys
Keith Niebuhr: Chomp: Kelvin is very good. But we simply don't believe he has the skill set of guys like Green, Tyner, Isaac and a few others. Love his size and toughness, but I'm not sure he will ever score on any long runs. To me, he is a lot like former UF back Errict Rhett. Very, very good, but not a 5-star. If he's as productive as Rhett was then you've done well for youselves.
Not sure I agree with you cant be a 5 star without elite speed. But the point about long runs I brought up in this thread. I think he is going to be very productive and would not mind another Rhett.

Recall that his speedier father didn't break a long run until late his final season.

With all due respect to Keith, I would consider a back who has the traits of our career all-time leading rusher a 5 star. To be the all-time leading rusher at a school like UF makes you more than very, very good. It makes you great.

Rhett was about as fast as Emmitt. Not sure why he couldn't score on long runs, except he had a tendency to blast through traffic and then fall forward after contact. Emmitt didn't have what people thought was second level speed, but nobody could catch him. Go figure. KT doesn't appear to have a lot of top end speed, but he's got enough burst to get into the secondary and then stay even with a lot of safeties. Just because you can run with him doesn't mean you can pull him down.
In the beauty pageant called high school recruiting, big backs without top end speed rarely earn their fifth star. Five stars means "sure thing." Those of us who have been following KT don't need any more assurance than we already have.
FWIW, 247 Sports has him with five stars and he's their number one RB.

Maybe, but he hasn't played in a long time and when he did play, he was a lot smaller player. His clips are impressive, but he was a scat back and relied a lot on speed and open field running. He's a lot bigger now and doesn't appear to have regained all of his speed. I don't think he broke eleven seconds during the past track season. I also don't know if he has the instincts of a power back. We don't know if he's the next Jimmy Dubose or the next Ran Carthon.

KT could be ranked higher but in my opinion its Lane that's ranked too low. He'll have his whole senior season to show out though.

They're both ranked too low on some lists, but I think Lane is way underrated. He's too good an athlete to have just three stars.

I just hope that Lane doesn't turn out to be another in the long line of freaks-of-nature we've had whose strength and athleticism didn't translate to the field.
In fact, for a year or more I was afraid that was going to be the case with Fred Taylor.

Emmitt was too small, too slow... how'd that work out. I think with the RB's we have today and with the addition of Lane and Taylor our running attack will be feared once again and with two (maybe three) really good young QB's our offense will return to the upper echelon.

Late night sickness so I've been lurking around GC and I've gotta say... I might be KT's biggest fan

Can't wait to see this guy perform in the orange and blue. The future of the Florida Gators is looking bright.
