He rushed at much bc he's an athletic freak. And he's too tall for the position making him easier to be tackled.

With backs, I've always thought is less about measurements than about feel. That is a hard think to judge, but sometimes staffs are cautious about guys who are effective prep runners because of athleticism, yet who lack the vision, balance, leverage, and patience necessary to run against bigger, more athletic defenses at the next level. I haven't seen enough of Henry to have any opinion one way or the other, but that could be the case. It could also be the case that we like the backs we have on board and maybe even have promised Taylor he will be the only "big back."

That's about the only way it makes sense to me but still agree with Strange.
"He is very productive, he pulls away from defenders, and he runs with good vision. He is a back that runs upright and he needs to run with more power behind his pads, but he does run through a lot of arm tackles, and is very good about keeping his legs moving until the end of the play. He is explosive and he has very good speed for a back his size. - Chad Simmons"
He'll do fine at RB and those newer to the board then will be asking why we didn't pursue DH harder.

Derrick Henry is a freak and will be a beast running the ball at the next level. I have no clue why we wouldn't recruit him. He is the fastest kid on tje field no matter his size.

At some level, you just have to defer to the staff's evaluation. It may be wrong, but odds they have watched far more film than us and have a good idea of where he would fit. If we had no decent backs, then I could understand the questions here. But we have Taylor on board--you know, the subject of the darn thread. Why are we even talking about Henry?

Saban sure is getting worried with the direction this program is heading IMO. Getting Pease, Muschamp a Saban guy, getting recruits to compete with the big boys, getting some TOP talent at the RB position.
I bet Saban would never admit it, but he's a lot more worried about what Muschamp and Co COULD become than how he ever felt about Meyer. Took them a couple years to get used to what Meyer was doing, but they found the recipe for that. Finding one for Muschamp is going to be A LOT tougher IMO, and I think he knows that.

But to "trust the coaches" I to believe that whoever offers him at RB is intentionally misleading him, expects him to play a different position after all, or is just incorrect in their evaluation? That's a fair amount of faith.

Why not? Right now we have one impact RB and he's a SR. It's not a slight to KT, really.

And we also have quality youth at the position not to mention Taylor and Lane coming in. We do not need Henry at the rb position.

So . . . would DH even come here if offered, because of KT ?
Or would it be because we will not offer him a RB position ?

Can't blame him. Kids change their minds every day.
Don't see Kelvin switching at all though, as someone said earlier in this thread, he's the only commit I have no worries about decommitting.

Little of both but more of the latter.

Happy Birthday Kelvin, celebrate with a Win on ESPNU tonight.

“I’m just a very blessed man. I’m just extremely blessed and having a great time playing this game of football,” said Kelvin Taylor, whose 4-0 Glades Day team will visit Yulee (3-1) on Friday at 8 p.m. in a game televised nationally on ESPNU.
