Website is having major "slow" issues...
Anyone else having problems tonight?
I've used the browser and the app and have had trouble for an hour or so now.

FWIW...
Andrew, it's intermittent. It will be slow for about 30 minutes and then okay for about ten. Been this way for a few hours now.

It's been slow for me about a week. The page has taken a long time to downloard after I hit the "next unread post" thingy next to the thread title.

When ever it starts to run a bit slow go to User CP, scroll down to edit options, then uncheck "show signatures". This speeds it up a good bit for me. If fact I never have signatures showing on any forum. It seems to enhance speed pretty well on any forum.

When this happens it's usually signatures doing it I had to turn them off because some folks signature graphics were slow loading from other places. I may have to consider turning off signature graphics for everyone tho if this continues to be a problem.
Ps I've put word into techs to check on servers too.

Hopefully I am not the guilty party.

I sent an email about a week ago and the posters on the thread told me it was because I use Internet Explorer... a couple thought it was pretty antiquated of me.
Anyway... it's only on Gator Country that it is happening to me. All other websites are ok.
Last night was really bad, though.

It was not signatures last night and I have never seen - according to YSlow the issue relating to a signature image.
Inline images are loaded asynchronously in all current browsers, which means the page would load in full as the browser continued to try to load the image.
It is and has been ads. If you aren't browsing here with adblock I cannot understand how the speeds would be tolerable. Blocks the video ad, most importantly.

For example, for this entire page to load without adblock takes 44.09 seconds. In my testing, this is actually a relatively good number, believe it or not. Now that doesn't mean it takes 44 seconds for you to see anything, as a lot of the streamed content comes in after load. But the page wasn't rendered for 10.3 seconds. That's a loooong time on the Internet. Most sites want to keep that under 1, 1.5 at the absolute most.
Let's look at a short list of the slowest items without adblock. Keep in mind this is a shortened list, there are tons of others. Brightcove requests alone take up about 18s of total load time, which is pretty amazing:
44.09 seconds
5.4 seconds (~900 ms times 6) for brightcove.vo.llnwd.net
2.9 seconds for idpix.media6degrees.com
2.58 seconds for rcv-srv22.inplay.tubemogul.com
1.52 seconds for c.brightcove.com
1.51 seconds for impl.ackak.com
1.40 seconds (times 8) static.ak.fbcdn.net
1.39 seconds for load.tubemogul.com
1.23 seconds for tags.bluekai.com
1.2 seconds for b.scorecardresearch.com
1.16 seconds for admin.brightcove.com
1.08 seconds for redir.adap.tv
1.07 seconds for c.brightcove.com
1.07 seconds for static.inplay.tubemogul.com
1.05 seconds for redir.adap.tv
800 ms for log.adap.tv
Again, that's a short list and I left out a lot of the other Brightcove items.
Now let's see the slowest items with Adblock re-enabled:
This time you see much fewer external items:
940 ms (times 3) for *.tynt.com (Need to adblock this site, which tracks selections, copy & pastes, etc.)
Then we're down to the 200ms-300ms range for ~ 15 Javascripts ... this of course should probably be combined and hosted on a CDN, but compared to the numbers above, it's negligble.
Then we're into the 150ms-200ms for all images, which again load inline and will not prevent a page load.
Total load time: 10.33s, 2.1s to render.
Data loaded: 796KB
Without Adblock: 2.7MB
