Ad on the side of the page!
Today I started getting an ad on the side of the page when I browse the forums. Is anyone else seeing this? I've tried different browsers but it still shows up. It's aggravating because it throws the page off center.

Yes, me too. Sucks out loud, but two taps on my I pad screen does the trick. Very aggravating though

It sucks!!! Makes the whole page smaller. I'm using my iPad and I don't have the screen space to spare.
Get rid of this crap!!!
Let your sponsors know I will actively avoid any products advertised there.
For Petes sake, who approved this, or can't GC control the layout of their web site?

Yeah, not a fan of changing the layout or covering the page with ads. I understand revenue and all that, but let's try not to make the ads so obtrusive.

Complete crap. I don't click on any of them unless by accident, then I mumble under my breathe and either close that tab or hit the back button. .... Would GC please listen to their customers and stop with all the ads? They aren't worth it. I'd rather spend an extra $2 - $3 a month than have to put up with all the ads. I'd also rather have GC put special ad threads in each conference high-lighting their true business partners. (i.e. an ad for a Jacksonville restaurant who is offering a game day special for the upcoming Florida-Georgia game in the Insider Forum). I think this would drive business to your partners who would benefit from it and hence make them willing to pay more for the ads. Plus your GC subscribers would benefit from it b/c that's where they are headed this weekend (i.e. Jax) and knowing they can get a special somewhere might entice them to frequent that business now and possibly in the future.

I don't think it's that big of a deal. Cmon guys, let folks pay their bills and make a few bucks. It's not a popup and it doesn't hinder viewing anything the site offers...

I'll see if there is a better way of integrating it into the forums rather than have it bug out on the side.

If you're interested in trying it, I wrote a quick-and-dirty Firefox plugin that reformats GC pages ... when used in conjunction with adblock, it removes all ads and utilizes the full width of your browser, and also removes a lot of the space at the top of the page. I've been using it for a few days now and minus a quirk on the viewing user profiles and that it doesn't clear quickreply boxes, it's pretty solid for only having invested about 10 minutes into it.

Up until yesterday I was fine with just running Adblock (as I'm sure many registered users here are, too). But adding a table column crushed most of the real estate here - I'm still not seeing the ad, of course, but I just have a big blank column.
So I whipped up this firefox extension, which I'll make public after a few modifications. I've been using it since yesterday when the change happened and it's vastly improved my experience here.

Open that with Firefox and it should ask you if you want to install. Just accept and visit GC. You shouldn't have to restart browser.
If it says it cannot open the file, just save it and drag it into Firefox.
If you don't like it, you can disable by going to Tools->Addons and disabling Gatorcountry Format

The problem on the iPad is that it shrinks the font enough to make it uncomfortable to read. I know I could use the iPad app, but I like to see all the content of the web version. Unfortunately this makes it a pain to read the site on iPad. It's not an issue on my desktop since we have a wide screen and the adds just show up in the empty space beside the page.
While I understand the revenue issue, elimination of certain types of particularly annoying ads for premium members would be worthwhile.
