There are some good ones people are drinking on here. I work for a beer distribution company (which also happens to be the Gamecock club president). We sell miller/coors, heine, corona, pbr, the beast, icehouse, and we also sell a lot of craft beer. New Belgium, Sam Adams, rogue, molson, labatt, highland, flying dog, shiner, dos equis, just to name a few. In my man cave fridge now i have on the regular 1554 from new Belgium, Thomas creek pump house porter, and coors light.

Last night I had two beers, both Dogfish Head. During my meal, I tried a Palo Santo Marron. It is a 12% brown ale. Very smooth for a 12%. After dinner, I ordered a Chicory Stout. You definitely get a hit of chocolate and coffee in the after taste. Huge fan of Dogfish Head Beer.

Love Hopslam, though I can seldom afford a six pack. I occasionally get a bomber of Double Jack on my way home from the dojo on Tuesday or Friday night. That's an excellent beer and a good value at $6.99.

Trying to organize a road trip from Chicago that would take us to Three Floyds in Munster, IN, New Holland in Holland, MI, Founders in Grand Rapids, and then through Kalamazoo to the Bells brewpub.

Palo is in my top 5. Delicious and will knock you on your ass. I just tried the Raison D'Etre, also excellent.

Dog 120 used to be my favorite, but as I get older i find it harder to drink. It's so damn spicy you need to chase it with pepto.

Hard to drink. Even harder to find. You can't even get it for more than one month out of the year. The places that sell it only let you buy one or two at a time. Some of them hide it in the back. The only people who get it have to ask for it. Even then, it's just one or two at a time. One of the local pubs gets a single keg every year. It only lasts about a week. It's outstanding on tap.

Once made the mistake of drinking one without warming up. I went in to buy something else, but that last 12oz bottle was leering at me from the shelf. I was going to be a six pack of something else, but spent my $10 beer allowance on that one bottle. Took me an hour to finish it. Didn't really enjoy it at all. Found a stray pale ale in the back of my fridge later that night and drank it. Tasted like hop flavored tap water.

Best way to drink DFH 120 is to work up to it. Drink at least one imperial/double IPA first. Might be good to drink a 60, a 90 and then drink your 120. (Though I don't really care for their 60.) The most I ever enjoyed one was at an IPA tasting after I'd tasted five or six other IPAs. The tasting started with single IPAs, then worked through doubles. They finally opened just two bottles of 120 and four of of us had six ounces each. It was 21% ABV that year. I seems to vary between 19% and 22% from one year to the next.

If you want something strong but doesn't sear the skin off your tongue, try to get your hands on a bottle of Founder's Devil Dancer. That's the most enjoyable extreme IPA I've ever had. I think it's somewhere around 14% ABV. They distribute it in four packs for about $22, but most stores break it up into singles.

Neither Molson, Labatt nor Dos Equis are truly craft beers.

I buy premium beer from total wine. They almost always at least a few 4 packs of 120. Maybe its different where you live but I suggest checking them out if you have one nearby. They have incredible selection of beer, and great wine too although I admittedly know nothing about wine.

They even have kegs of 120. Its my dad's favorite beer. Him and his friends get together over the weekend and kill a keg every now and then. They drink like viking pillagers. I can't hang.

If you are in or near the mid-Atlantic the availability of DFH beers increases dramatically. The further away the more scarce it gets, of course the opposite is true for other beers. So its just one of those things. I do miss the DFH ale houses that I used to frequent in Virginia.

My wife has to go gluten free for thyroid issues, not a celiac. Being a good hubby, I'm doing it too so she doesn't have to do it alone. Amazing how it changes your eating habits, though, mostly for the better. Lost 20 pounds in 2 months, mostly from nor eating bread I think!

I dated a celiac for 2 years so I know what you mean. Though I definitely did not totally give up gluten with her it really did make me aware of her limited diet. Still, I probably went the other way and gained 20 pounds as I wasn't a big bread eater to begin with. But she had the disease for a long time so knew how to still eat well with it.
