So he would transfer and sit out a season at a school which wouldn't likely be of his choice since the school he signed with will be careful to where he's granted a release. Good for him, will be an 8 year college tour.

Unfortunately, that doesn't necessarily mean that Young is a better d-line coach than Hagins.
Baffles me why so many think it does.

Kind of like Cheeseburger Charlie and all those Super Bowl rings were supposed to translate into instant success on the field and in recruiting.

Well now... The recruiting aspect of that was definitely a factor for some of last year's recruit's. Although there was VERY LITTLE translation on the field, had Cheeseburger stayed, we would very probably have Agholor and very possibly have Diggs on the roster now.
Not saying that we should have kept Weis, by any means. But the guy can recruit.
Though, I am thinking we dodged a bullet with Diggs... kinda a T.O. "camera-on-me-at-all-times" guy. And Agholor, I guess, wanted to be a RB at USC more than he wanted to be a WR anywhere else. Though, Weis very possibly could have gotten both of these guys.
But again, before the flamers come out, I think we are much better off with what we have now and what we have committed and what we have with the future.

Do not underestimate the fact that former fsu fullback Pooh Bear Williams is his assistant coach. I am not sold on his work ethic. His talent is out of the roof, but I am not shocked that he has done this. I think he wants the trips and who can blame him. By him committing early and jumping on the offer I think you see where his heart is.

Ah, our nemesis from the 40 Acre Wood. No way do we have a chance with Brantley. Doubt we have a chance with any other decent in-state prospects. Might as well just pack it in and go after some undersized one-star prospect. Oh bother!

I'm not too worried about this right now. He probably just thought he;d like to take some visits so that's cool with me.
I still think he's our's to lose though.

Doesn't sound like gatorump was saying that. Good to know he has an fsu coach in his ear, especially with the DT disarray at fsu.

I understand that I only have two posts...I get it I really do. I have lurked these boards for years, joined a couple of years ago and only made my first post recently. I only chimed in to give you some insight on someone with whom I am very familiar with. Take it or leave it. FWIW all of the coaches at CC are huge nole fans. I cannot say for sure about the new head coach as I have only recently met him. He is from and played in Palatka and in my experience, due to the influence of the Williams John L and Jarvis, most people from Palatka tend to favor the Gators. CC is a nole town (uggh) due to the influence of Pooh Bear and the people that wanted him to succeed. Just info that's all.

The new head coach at CC was the DeLand RB coach where he coached pop saunders and mike gillislee (who are both at UF). Caleb is all gators no matter what anyone says.

He reaffirmed his commit last night. He isn't going anywhere. He might take visits though, but that's his right to a few free trips. All Gator.

Hagins definetly has more experience as a Coach-those who can't teach, but I think Young will do just fine passing on the technique that made him All-Pro.

Caleb Brantley a UA All-American
Quote:
Gators DT commit a UA All-American
Caleb Brantley excited to play in game he has watched since its beginnings
October 16, 2012
By Derek Tyson | ESPN RecruitingNation
CRESCENT CITY, Fla. -- ESPN 150 defensive tackle Caleb Brantley (Crescent City, Fla./Crescent City) received his jersey Wednesday morning during the 2013 American Family Insurance Selection Tour for the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game.
The 6-foot-3, 300-pound, four-star athlete said he was honored to be selected for a game that has featured top players such as NFL receivers Julio Jones and A.J. Green and Florida defensive tackle Dominique Easley.
"It means a lot to me," Brantley said. "Ever since it started, I've been watching it on TV, hoping I can get a chance to play in this game. Now for them to finally select me, it's unreal. I'm real excited. It feels like a dream. To be in a category with those guys, it just makes me want to work harder to get to where they are."
Brantley's mom, Tracy Mitchell, could barely contain her excitement for her son's accomplishment. Mitchell said she just wants her son to be successful, no matter what his future holds.
"As a parent, you always want your kid to succeed and do their best in life," Mitchell said. "Especially with society and the rate kids are going. I'm just so blessed and I just thank the Lord for guiding and protecting me and Caleb and for giving Caleb the strength and the wisdom to make this accomplishment."
Crescent City head coach Al Smith said Brantley is a great person on and off the field and his physical attributes are unlike anything he's ever seen.
"He's more of a leader, not vocally, but what he does on the field," Smith said. "You see a guy that is getting all this attention but yet he still goes hard in practice. Other guys just line up behind him and do the same thing. He's valuable to us by what he does in practice.
"Caleb's a big, strong, physical kid. He recognizes run [plays] well but has a great pass rush. He's hard to block. He's about 6-3, 300 pounds and runs a 4.9 40-yard dash. He gets off the ball well and is real explosive. He's a great student in the classroom -- he's a 'yes sir, no sir' type of guy and he can dominate a game."
Brantley has been committed to the Gators since before Florida hosted its junior day in Febuary. The No. 31-ranked player in the country attended Florida's 14-6 victory over LSU two weeks ago and was impressed with Florida's defensive performance.
"I was at the LSU game," Brantley said. "After the clock hit zero, I couldn't do nothing but just look at the scoreboard and just say, 'Wow.' LSU has been struggling recently, but I thought before the game they would be stepping it up, but the Florida defense was just unstoppable. Those guys just really clamped down."
Though he remains committed to the Gators, Brantley said he will likely take some other visits.
"After the LSU game, it's hard to say that I'm looking at other places, really, but all I can say is stay tuned," he said. "I plan to visit FSU for the UF game and then an official in December and then probably another an unofficial visit after that. I might visit UGA, too. I'm not sure but I might do that. I don't think I'd go anywhere else other than that."
Brantley said his relationship with Florida State defensive line coach has kept FSU on his radar.
"It's just the relationship with their D-line coach, Odell Haggins, is the main thing," Brantley said. "We talk a lot, he calls me constantly. I have like a father/son bond with him. I've visited FSU a lot of times but I've only been to one game. It was the Oklahoma game that they lost last year and the atmosphere was crazy. I always tell the other Florida recruits that I've yet to hear it louder than that FSU game. It was crazy there."
Mitchell, though, said the family has kept the Florida coaches in the know on their plans.
"You have to understand this is a young kid who has never really traveled," Mitchell said. "To get out there and to see what's out there, I think it's a good experience. At the same time, though, we do keep Florida informed. We try to keep it professional."
