86% of the time top 100 recruits stick to their original commitment. Don't get too caught up in the very few guys who change their mind. The ones who do have a higher likelihood of being academic casualties or transferring during their careers.

How about Mac-adam Lane... trying to tackle the guy is like hitting pavement.

I don't really see the whole bruising, power back thing with this kid when I watch the film. Also, 5'7 is giving away a lot of height.

I doubt he was 205 pounds in those clips. The height doesn't bother me. He's already heavier than any RB on UF's roster and he's probably still growing. He'll be 5'9".

Good point. Let's hope he turns out to be a stud.

Adam being short shouldn't bother anybody. Lower center of gravity, and much harder to tackle since he can get lower than practically everybody on the field. Just look at Ray Rice and Maurice Jones-Drew.

Yeah, short is only a problem when you can't pack muscle on the frame, which is obviously not a problem for Lane.

Adam Lane is a huge start for the next class, he will be something special. He reminds me of a Ray Rice type runner, him being short is not at all a disadvantage. He may be able to put on about 15 more lbs of muscle. His build is very good for a dynamic runner up the gut of a defense. This kid has been ready to be a Gator for along time and mom and pops are on board as well. Lane will be a key to the success to this class. I think Lane committing will force some of the other Rb's in this class that want to be Gators to pull the trigger and commit to lock up there spot. I think Muschamp was fired up after the Davis fiasco. He likes to lock up the primary players at Skill positions early on in the process like they did at Texas.

Saw some twitter chatter about Lane recruiting Ryan Green. That would be a great combination.

I saw that too. Don't know anything about Green, but I like the confidence Lane has in himself and the willingness to start helping the program so soon after his commitment.

Offhand, I'd venture that being short is GENERALLY an advantage for a RB. I thought I read somewhere that the average height of an NFL RB is 5-9.

Anywhere from 5'8" to 5'11" is pretty much standard. Anyone taller than six feet is going to have difficulty getting to an ideal low pad level, meaning they'll run more upright and take more and harder hits, it's also more likely that they'll have the ball stripped.
That's not to say that tall runners can't exist in the NFL. AD Peterson is 6'1" 220 and I think we can all agree that he's pretty good. But he does run more upright than most other NFL backs, has had his problems with fumbling, and has been more and more nicked up the past few years.

I don't think the fumbling issue had anything to do with his height and he was not all that nicked up until this year when he got injured and should have been shut down.
