Anyone still using BlackBerry?
I actually just went back to BB from Android. Wondering how many BB people are out there and if there would be any interest in forming a GatorCountry BB Group on BB Messenger?

It's still used a bunch in the business world. I have a Curve through my job, but I never use Messenger.

Yep I have it and still like mine,
Do a good deal of email checking through BB.
Post on this website from my BB as well
Mine's pretty cheap, a BB 8530, but does what I need to do.
As Steel said, haven't used BB messenger yet.

BBM is probably the only thing I miss from having a blackberry.
Just about all of my friends still have BB and use BBM all the time.

Samsung Epic on Sprint. Phone itself was great other than the battery life, which was 8-10 hours at best. But no smartphone gets battery life like a BB does, at least not on a CDMA (Verizon, Sprint US Cellular) carrier.
My main reason for switching was the lack of support Google provides for their app store. I couldn't download any apps for my phone (a glitch that affects some people and Google has never fixed) and since Google doesn't provide any customer service for their Market, I sold my Epic and bought a BB again.
I guess I will start a BB group. If no one joins, no skin off my back.

I don't think so. Us BB users are dinosaurs.

No GC app, Ray only likes cell phones that are toys, so us BlackBerry users are left out.
BB users aren't dinosaurs, there is still a large portion of the smartphone marktet on BB. I have at least 30 people in my BBM list that I chat with.

I post on the board all the time with the BB, and I love that the forums have a mobile version!

Yeah, I know we aren't really dinosaurs....nut many software and application developers feel that way. Not to mention I think it is more costly to make an application for RIM devices.

Not yet.
The problem I see for BB users is the extra fees it cost to connect to a Exchange Server at work. The other smart phones connect to Exchange or free.

I get my Exchange mail from work without any extra fees or plans...what I cannot do is sync calendar and contacts wirelessly with Exchange (or any subfolders) for free.

What you are thinking of is one of the BB enterprise servers.
Exchange servers typically include exchange active sync which allows you to connect without charge IF your hardware and software will support it.
I have a droid now but am an old palm guy.
Now you bb guys know how us palm guys felt...
Palm screwed the pooch by not making its webos available on a 4 inch device. webos is far better than any other I have used.

That is right maxgator. Some of our departments cover the cost for their staff, some don't.

BB Enterprise Server is the worst piece of software I've ever had the misfortune of administering. Absolutely horrid. Thank God no one in my organization uses BB anymore.

I don't believe there is anyway to determine the worse software out there. EMC manages to sell some of the worst software out there, IMaHO. Networker (also known as NotWorking) makes BES look almost professional, for instance. I have a client afflicted with both so have seen them both inaction (as opposed to in action).

Planning to order an extra phone for international travel to use with my own SIM cards. Any reason an unlocked Blackberry wouldn't work? I noticed some on Amazon/Ebay were relatively inexpensive, but don't remember if available unlocked & quad band. I don't really need web access or email, just talk and text.
