They should bring back Claude from GTA III as the main character. Except have him talk this time.

CAN--NOT--WAIT! Must buy... there's only a few must buys now a days. (for me anyway) This, uncharted and dead space. Elder scrolls to a lesser extent. Though I can't wait for that too.

Updated OP with the trailer!
Here's some things to note from the trailer:
- It shows Los Santos, but I'd bet money the game takes place in all of San Andreas, again. First off, the license plates on the cars say "San Andreas." Second, GTA games always have a bunch of islands in them and lastly, in the first trailer for the original GTA: San Andreas, R* only shows Los Santos and didn't reveal Fierro and Venturas until the 2nd trailer.
- Great shots of the VINEWOOD sign and the countryside.
- PLANES!
- Animals are in, it showed a couple of dogs.
- Lastly, the protagonist is most certainly an older Tommy Vercetti from Vice City! Definitely Ray Liotta's voice.

Man I love this game. I've been playing it ever since GTA 1 and it just keeps getting better and better. I never played GTA 4 a lot because I didn't like the movement of the characters. GTA San Andreas is easily the best GTA and one of the all time greatest games ever made. It's so many games in one, so much fun you can have, never gets old... just a pure classic.

I don't think that is Ray Liotta. I know that seems to be what the nets are saying but to me it does not sound like him at all.
Also this quote makes me think it is someone else.
Quote:
“ I remember playing Vice City and thinking [Ray Liotta's] performance was fantastic, but something in the months afterwards when I was playing it was conflicting in my brain: was I playing Tommy Vercetti or was I playing Ray Liotta?...it really sort of caught me off guard, and it kept happening to me. To some extent it left me a bit confused, and it certainly made us resolve for future iterations to dial down the use of famous actors. So if you look at San Andreas, there weren’t as many in that game. ”
— Sam Houser, president of Rockstar Games[3]

Could still be the character, just another voice actor.

Leaf is correct. With all of the talk about it, Liotta confirmed it is not him earlier today.
I think it could be Claude from GTA III. It's a definite possibility.

I see a lot of people have been worrying/are worried that this game takes place just in Los Santos, and not all of San Andreas. I think, actually I am almost 100% certain this game will take place in ALL of San Andreas, that means Los Santos, San Fierro and Las Venturas. As someone who played the hell out of San Andreas, and being it was my favorite GTA game, let me shed some light on some stuff for anyone worrying, because a lot of people seem to feel like this.
Anyways, here's why it will be ALL of San Andreas and not just Los Santos:
- Dan Houser said that this GTA is "the big one"
- In the trailer it clearly shows flyable fighter jets and commercial aircraft. Rockstar said GTA IV didn't have planes in it because they travel too fast and you'd cover the map so fast in one that they were basically useless. So there'd be no reason to have planes if it was just Los Santos, which is just the city, suburbs and the countryside. Also, with flyable commercial aircraft, there will most definitely be more than one airport.
- In the trailer, the cliff it shows where the wind turbines are, that area is a coastal road in San Andreas, it didn't have wind turbines in the original, but there was only one road like that, and it was on the Los Santos side of the map and it lead to the bridge leading to Las Venturas.
- Also, in the trailer it showed migrant workers on some crops with a cropduster overhead, I've been to Cali and I have a cousin that lives in LA, he said you see those exact crops when you leave LA towards San Francisco and those crops are usually a sign you're close to San Francisco.
- Lastly, I am almost positive the ginormous mountain it showed is Mt. Chiliad, in the original SA, Mount Chiliad was the biggest object in the game and it was in Bone County, which was on the San Fierro side of the map.
Then like I said, for the original SA, Rockstar only showed Los Santos in the first trailer, Fierro and Venturas weren't shown until the second one.
IGN also said Rockstar confirmed it is in San Andreas.

I spent many hours riding that mountain with the dirt bikes and other stuff. I think I may play GTA SA tonight now that I'm thinking about it. I bought it from the xbox store so its saved on my HD forever.

Yep, haha. I used to go to the top and try and ride a dirt bike down and survive, I never did though. I always fell off and died. But yeah I should play SA again, I have it on PC but I don't have a wired 360 controller just wireless, and I hate playing GTA with the mouse and keyboard.

Posted by Rockstar on the official GTA V page:
" We are very proud to officially announce that Grand Theft Auto V is in full development.
Developed by series creator Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto V heads to the city of Los Santos and surrounding hills, countryside and beaches in the largest and most ambitious game Rockstar has yet created.
A bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer, Grand Theft Auto V focuses on the pursuit of the almighty dollar in a re-imagined, present day Southern California."
...a little disappointing. From the sound of that, there will be no San Fierro or Las Venturas, so much for my theories of why there will be

I'm sure we will have a few side missions in San Fierro and LA. I'm kinda happy that we get new maps, as much as I loved SA, I think it would be great to have a fresh map to run around on.

I'm actually not that excited for it anymore. I hate to say it. But I was so looking forward for a return to San Andreas and for it to be only one of the cities from SA, it's pretty disappoint for me at least.
Plus, Los Santos was the most boring of the three cities, IMO. San Fierro was pretty sweet but Las Venturas was my favorite, Los Santos was the biggest island by far, but there wasn't as much to do on it. I had a ton of fun messing around in Las Venturas. The whole thing was, you'd get far into the game, then you'd get thrown into San Fierro and just when you thought you'd experienced everything, you get a whole new city, then not long after you get to go to Las Venturas.
There won't be that experience of something new, and it will probably be like GTA IV. I loved GTA IV, but Liberty City was so boring after the first 10 hours. I never felt like I was someplace new and unique each time a new island was unlocked, but with San Andreas each time you got a new island unlocked it was like you were in a whole new world to explore. All of the islands differed so much from one another in SA, in Liberty City they were all the same.
That's the San Andreas map, I'm guessing what they'll do is just cut off the gigantic bottom portion of San Fierro that is all woodland and make that part of Los Santos.
Still, I'm really disappointed.

I may be mistaken since I'm not a huge gta guy but isn't this the first time they are revisiting a city at all. Personally I would likens complete change of scenery but I didn't play San Andreas which might be why.

No, GTA IV was a revisitation of Liberty City, which was the location of GTA III.
Although they completely revamped Liberty City in IV and it was nothing like the one in III. In III it was Portland, Staunton Island and Shoreside Vale. Idk what the three in III were, I'd assume all NYC locations, but Portland was mainly factories and small businesses, Staunton was downtown NYC and Shoreside Vale actually was very different from the two, it contained an enormous airport, a dam and in the north there were some mansions, this is the GTA III Liberty City map:
In IV they didn't have names for the island, they were just different parts of the city, the third island was a New Jersey setting, while the first two were New York.
