Get ready for...
Teams to start pressing us. We clearly have trouble both inbounding the ball and then dribbling it up the court. Not sure if Boynton just had a bad game or what, but Billy D may need to think about just going ahead and starting Wilbekin.

Boynton really struggled. Ballhandling duties are affecting his offense and its starting to bother his entire game.
Thankfully, we have an entire season to get this straightened out.

Another thing that is worrisome in this game is that as soon as a team gets it in their head that they can't finish in the clutch, they become just that -- a team that can't finish in the clutch. I know its a long season, but our basketball schedule equates to FSU's football schedule this season. We needed to prove ourselves in one of the few chances we had, and we failed to do so tonight.

If we cannot inbound under pressure we will lose most close games. We should have dominated that team tonight. We were open in the paint all night but we did not feed inside much. I was surprised.by our lack of taking it to their much younger team. The end game was pretty pathetic. We really needed this win for our rpi. Our conference magnifies this loss.

I remember a team that couldn't inbound the ball against UT a few years back...
If this team is so mentally weak that they can't respond from this, then there is no point in worrying about a #1 seed, or going back to the elite 8.
Alot of overreacting here tonight over a game that was a 50/50 proposition going in.

A valid point, but that team had a lot of of other opportunity to face difficult teams. This one will not.

I disagree. I don't see us going 17-1 or 18-0 in the league and I also see quite a few close games throughout the season.
We're not explosive on offense. I think we're a bit chopping on the execution and we're going to struggle from time to time. Thankfully, we are very good defensively, so we'll be in every game.
Sounds a bit like this year's football team.

Wasn't it Corey that had a problem inbounding against Tenn at a home game we lost to them? These things can be worked on and it is early in the season yet.

I hope you're right my friend! I know this team has it in them, but I sure hope this game doesn't slow them down.

Yes, it was Brewer who tossed it away. I think the game was in Knoxville in 2006 (05/06 Season). It was our first loss of that season.

Maybe I'm misremembering but I think Corey threw the ball right to Tennessee late in the game two years in a row that cost us the game. Freakin' Dane Bradshaw.

That is what this part of the season is all about. It's about sizing up your strengths and weaknesses and getting to work on becoming better before the conference schedule begins.
I'm happy we were challenged tonight. Not happy about the loss, but the weaknesses are there for everyone to see. Noone walked off that court tonight happy about keeping it close (such as Ohio State and Syracuse in recent seasons). They should be angry with themselves and even more driven to become better.
Billy will be playing that last minute on the DVD for them a lot. They'll get sick of it and will be determined to improve and not let it happen again.

I see no reason why we can't go at least 14-2 in the conference this year. Unless the rest of the SEC somehow steals the NBA's elite powers, I see the entire league outside of us and UK being the equivalent of the Looney Tunes.

Tommy made this point, but Az is a tough defensive team. Not too many other teams can create that type of defensive pressure.

we got abused at the end. it's stunning to see us play reasonably well for the majority of the game, and then collapse like that.
something to work on indeed. and no doubt we'll be tested by others to see if this is indeed our achilles heel.
i thought i might miss Ewalk and his ability to break the press at the end of the game - and hit the clutch free throws. this is the first game this season that i felt this, although i had a sense this might happen. but if you can't even inbound the pass, it doesn't matter who the pg is. right now, we have trouble against teams that know what they're doing on defense.

We are concentrating so much on the point guard play last night. Let's not overlook Murphy's 5 turnovers. They really hurt last night. He needs to get lower in his stance and be more forceful with his passes.
