Question SEC Championship Game - how is home/away determined?

Looked around for this but couldnt find anything. My friend even called the Gator ticket office and they were no help, very tight lipped at this point. My first thought is it would be determined by conference record, which could end up being a dead heat if us and Bama keep winning. Anyone have any information on this?

We ALWAYS make ourselves at home in the GA dome...does that count?

Does it not simply rotate between the East and West divisional winners?

Alabama had the better SEC record last year (8-0 versus our 7-1) and we were the designated 'Home Team.'

I think the West is the Home Team in odd years, so this year we should wear our white jerseys. If your question is which sideline the teams will occupy, do not worry. There will be a smattering of fans from both schools throughout the stadium. But, if Alabama is there representing the West, they will have a greater percentage of the stadium due to some historical factors.

isnt it true that since Bama made the 1st sec championship game, they have held a large number(i assume the other team didnt buy a lot of their allotment) of ticket reservations every year and just sold them off if they didnt...does that still play a factor? or is that mainly a rumor?

Home/away in the SECCG alternates each year between the East and the West. The East is the "home" team in the even years and the West in the odd which is why we wore all blue in the game last season. Two years ago the West team was the designated "home" team but it was LSU who chose to wear white. Either way, there will probably be about 60-70% Alabama fans at the game should they get there because they somehow hold a lot of the tickets.

The first few SEC title games were held in Birmingham and included Alabama. Alabama fans bought up most of those original tickets and have never let go of them since. That is why they hold is large proportion of the tickets that aren't allotted to the two teams participating in the game.

The first two SEC championship games in 1992 & 1993 were held in Birmingham. Both years it was Florida vs Alabama with the bammers winning the first game and the Gators the second. Needless to say, with the game in Alabama, the bammers scoped up most of the non-allocated tickets. When the game was moved to Atlanta, those who purchased tickets in the past were given priority for tickets at the new venue. The bammers scoped them up and continue to buy them each year.

just curious....why are you asking who the home team is? the tix are split 50/50 and the sec east champ fans always sit in the same sections. we will be visitors this year.

Actually, the Bama people bought the 92 game tickets as an inducement to the SEC to put the game in Birmingham. They were the intial purchasers prior to the 1992 season. When the game moved to Atlanta, many initial Bama people kept renewing their tickets every year.

If LSU is wearing white, should go with the throwbacks, love those.
