Lake Susan Lodge isn't around anymore?

I remember when Clermont was nothing more than Citrus groves, a Publix and shopping center, Food Lion, and the Crown. I remember helping clean out the old drive in Movie Theater.

Last time I drove through, I didn't even recognize it.

That place was awesome... I forgot about the IGA on the west side of town, I can't remember the name of the Greek restaurant in that little strip mall.

Former Ocoee Mayor Tom Ison owned the Lodge. His son Tommy ran the small lakefront bar for awhile.

When Tom died, his partner ended up with the Lodge and the Ison family lost control.

Not sure if it is the same guy but I heard the owner borrowed heavy on the Lodge to build the subdivision across the lake from the Lodge. A local bar owner I know tried to buy it, but told me there were just too many problems to be worked out first.

It is still standing, barely, but it might be in so much debt, no one wants it.

I swear I wouldn't even recognize the place. There’s a subdivision across the lake from it? I had some great times there in the late 80s and early 90s.

Subdivision has been there for quite awhile, didn't have many homes in it however until recently. The big hill across from the bar. Big thing now is they cut a divided highway from 27 to Lakeshore Dr. Lots of property was opened up for homes when that went in.

Might have bumped into you out there. Some of my buds were in a band that played the Lodge many times over the years.

Spiro's is awesome, I ate there every chance I got. Best marinara sauce anywhere.
