WSJ calls Pelosi's Healthcare proposal "Worst Bill Ever"

Wall Street Journal calls it like it is.

"Speaker Nancy Pelosi has reportedly told fellow Democrats that she's prepared to lose seats in 2010 if that's what it takes to pass ObamaCare, and little wonder. The health bill she unwrapped last Thursday, which President Obama hailed as a "critical milestone," may well be the worst piece of post-New Deal legislation ever introduced."

All of this is intentional, even if it isn't explicitly acknowledged. The overriding liberal ambition is to finish the work began decades ago as the Great Society of converting health care into a government responsibility. Mr. Obama's own Medicare actuaries estimate that the federal share of U.S. health dollars will quickly climb beyond 60% from 46% today. One reason Mrs. Pelosi has fought so ferociously against her own Blue Dog colleagues to include at least a scaled-back "public option" entitlement program is so that the architecture is in place for future Congresses to expand this share even further.

THIS is significant and scary, a classic camel's nose in the tent. Once the beachhead is established then the real damage can occur easily since now only incremental changes are necessary - increase taxes, ration services, increase debt, etc. Once the program is in place it will never go away no matter how destructive.

There also just happens to be a lot of unstable people in hopeless situations.

The more I read about what appears to be the deliberate ruination of this once great country, the more I wonder how some of our politicians haven't been turned into Swiss cheese.

The bill could have done a lot of good, but one side has no idea's and the other has the wrong idea's.

One side is worried that someone might get some help, the other side is making sure all get too much help while skipping the cheaper, keep everyone healthy step.

It was bad enough when this was turning into a insurance gold mine, but now even the Scientologist wants their cut and us to pay for their alternative medicine of prayer.

They once prayed for the sick, now they want to pray for pay...with us paying. So we will have to pay to not give medication to the sick now as well.

Yet no mention that the whole thing is UnConstitutional. No where in the Constitution is the Federal government granted power to enact health care legislation nor force anyone to buy anything.

It's very apparent now that Pelosi is more than willing to sacrifice any future elections to get this boondoggle passed. The question is why would any remotely moderate dem blindly follow the botox queen off the end of the pier??

With spending and debt already at record peacetime levels, the bill creates a new and probably unrepealable middle-class entitlement that is designed to expand over time. Taxes will need to rise precipitously, even as ObamaCare so dramatically expands government control of health care that eventually all medicine will be rationed via politics.

Yet at this point, Democrats have dumped any pretense of genuine bipartisan "reform" and moved into the realm of pure power politics as they race against the unpopularity of their own agenda. The goal is to ram through whatever income-redistribution scheme they can claim to be "universal coverage." The result will be destructive on every level—for the health-care system, for the country's fiscal condition, and ultimately for American freedom and prosperity.

I'm not opposed to the public option. Not crazy about it, but I haven't seen any other proposals that do much good to solve the problem.
I do have problems with the requirement that everyone buy health insurance. Doesn't seem right.
