Default The Republicans and liberty lovers can pound Obama over Honduras

This is represents the first real opportunity and Obama's biggest blemish to date. He is supporting a leftist POTUS who wanted to change their constitution in order to consolidate his power. Up and down the Honduran government every entity went against their president. By siding with the Honduran president Obama has opened up a big bullseye on his chest. If the GOP were smart (and they really aren't) they would pound him into oblivion on it. Once given the details I'd guess nearly all Americans would side with the Honduran government and constitution. While this is in line with Obama's statements and ideology this is really the first time his actions would go really go against the mainstream American public. The GOP needs to attack full force on this. It is one thing to not meddle in another countries affairs. That is okay. However to promote a leftist that wishes to consolidate and centralize power against their constitution? That is something the American people would never stand for.

Maintaining the status quo in Central America has been a common theme among all Presidents, left and right.

PS. not saying it's right, just not exclusive.

So you want Obama to publicly support a military coup over an elected president because you don't like the elected president's politics?

Maybe Obama should order an invasion of Honduras to flex his muscle and demonstrate how tough he is on 2-bit dictators.

So we now define 'will of the people' as 'military coup' rather than 'election?'

I disagree with dictators. I don't like the politics of dictators. Do you?

Which dictators do you wish you lived under?

So you have no problem with a man trying to consolidate and centralize power in his hands even though every other branch of the government says that attempt is illegal and unconstitutional?

Obama likes leftist demagogues, supports leftist demagogues, and almost certainly aspires to be a leftist demagogue.

He tried to hold a referendum which he shouldn't have. That's kind of a big step from that to dictator, don't you think?

Things there are pretty murky, it's almost like we should just keep our mouths shut. There was a consitutional process, but it looks like some of it was done after the fact(the congressional vote), and they beat up some south american diplomats, have begun cutting off communications within the country, fired tear gas at demonstrators, killed a legilastor in a firefight, and kicked the president out of the country. By the same token, the president was trying to circumvent law and the supreme court had ruled against him. Seems like your average mess to me.

Not at all. He showed a wanton disregard for the rule of law--that's the foundational aspect of every would-be dictator.

The referndum was specifically to try and extend his rightful rule against the laws of his country, how would you define that?

Hey river, when you are left of the Daily Koz you really should take a long look in the mirror.
