We don't run a ton of isos for individual players and we don't do much out of the high post, as we did in the past with Wright and Noah, but I don't see that phase of our game as weak at all. Turnovers bother me far more.
Maybe you're right. When I think of our designed offense in the paint, I think of a PY hook shot that's not always reliable, and that's about it. Murphy and Yeguette score inside on putbacks mostly, which is great against physically inferior teams.

Not knocking our guys, trust me. And maybe I just haven't been paying enough attention to the detail of the game as it flows. Just seems like we're gonna need more than a Rosario floater or PY to hit all his hook shots as we get deeper in the tourney.

But I like the guy we have right now.
My bad, thought we were looking at him mostly at the three. No matter!

True on Yeguete, though we have featured him far more prominently in the pick and roll game this year, but Murphy has been scoring in a variety of ways. In addition to the pick and pops, he has been scoring on pick and rolls, post ups on the low blocks, and even his little dribble drive game from the wing where he posts his man up off the bounce.

The reason I asked the question in my response was that sometimes we conflate specific play calls and our basic ball action, which consists largely of ball screens. Donovan is not a huge fan of calling specific plays, especially in late game situations, because his offense is so effective and he teaches it so well that he would mostly rather roll the dice with something the kids know well and can execute based upon the defense than go with something pretermined. That being said, he has integrated a ton of new looks this year, like the little pindown screen for Wilbekin last week or some of the high staggered screens we have been running.

In any event, we aren't going to call a bunch of half court plays dedicated to getting the ball into Young or Murphy, but those guys are always options in our basic sets. If the defense does certain things (as Ole Miss did with their zone), then it takes that option away because Donovan doesn't want them to force the ball into a guy who doesn't have a shot when you can take advantage of the defense elsewhere.

The fact that Middle Tennessee is our second best RPI win isn't exactly a problem. They do have an RPI of 26.
Plenty of legitimate reasons for this:

Mississippi State lost everyone.
Vandy lost everyone.
South Carolina is rebuilding, with a new coach.
Kentucky lost everyone, well almost.
Missouri has had some injury problems as well as UT. Bowers and Maymon would make both of those teams much more competitive and in Mizzou's case, Top 20.

Factor that and then consider all of the upperclassmen that we have and it makes everyone look even worse.

I think we're awesome on D but I do worry that we might be getting the FSU in football effect- I mean who exactly tests us- UK is the only team with similar athletes and they can't play this year (finally the stupid all freshman crap is catching up to Cal).
