Purifoy
Will he stay at CB, or move to WR, or play both next year. I said last year Showers and Purifoy were our 2 best WR's and still think that. Purifoy is another Watkins with the Ball, and Showers is very good with the ball.
Hope this is a better post title .

lol CWM said he will stay at CB but play more on offense. It will be interesting to see if they stick with that plan if we get D Rob.

Also, depends how Pittman and Debose step up, imo. All indications is that the light is turning on for them in the bowl game practices. If we need LP at WR, we're in trouble

Who will replace Elam? I was thinking it would be Purifoy since he's the most physically aggressive DB on the roster. Hate to see a big drop off there. Figuring Showers to start at FS.

Elam will be very tough to replace...but dont forget about Gorman. He's been very solid and could step in easily.

Hopefully the young WRs emerge. If Elam leaves I would hate to lose Purifoy on defense. He wasn't always the best cover guy but he is such a playmaker and has a knack for getting the ball back for the offense

Agree on this. Purifoy needs to tackle a lot better to get into Elam's class though. I really hope Elam comes back for a NC run.

Where will Maye end up? Poole and Maye might be a good pair of safetys for us. Gorman needs to get better in pass defense, can hit with the best.
How about Ledbetter does he stay or tranfer?

I could see that happening, especially if Hargreaves is as good as advertised.

Purifoy is not moving to safety I dont know why people think that has any chance of happening. Florida already has a ton of talent at safety and if they were going to move a corner Watkins and Poole would go to safety before Purifoy.

Robinson could have a effect on this imo. I believe Purifoy could be a big weapon on offense but no way do we take him off the defense. The kid is a turnover machine and a play maker. However, Robinson, Bailey and Fullwood should see significant pt as the year goes on. I believe Bailey will surprise a lot of us.

I mentioned it a few weeks ago only because I thought he would be a great safety, not because I actually think he moves.
I also don't see any reason to move him to receiver. With Dunbar back, Pittman and Andrades having a year under their wings, and the group of freshmen (hopefully including Robinson), it would probably be counterproductive to force defensive backs to do double duty on the other side of the ball.

If we don't get Robinson then I would play Purifoy on offense some . We need a vertical threat and I don't believe anybody else on the team can be that threat beside maybe Pittman. Poole & VH3 can give us 20-25 snaps a game at corner to give to Purfioy to play on offense if needed.

Watkins is pretty physical too, especially when I think about all those interference calls last season and how he improved his timing with contact. I think he might be a bit taller. Don't know anything about Poole except some prep clips of him in lockdown coverage. Looked all corner at the time, but he was practicing at nickel and safety this year.
Isn't Gorman a little short?
The thing with Purifoy is that he's one of the best players we have at three different positions. Does he play where he's needed most or where he plays best? Ditto with Hargreaves. He's probably the most dangerous receiver on the team next year if he got the chance. He's the flip side of Percy, who would have been one of the best CBs in UF history if that had been his choice.
Speaking of freshmen, I'm assuming a couple of the incoming guys are good enough to be primary backups. Is anyone good enough to possibly start? Harris already has NFL size. I'm assuming he will play in the box and Neal will play deep, as will Washington if he doesn't play corner.

Poole will play all over the field. Gorman has enough size for college football but he is going to have to fight for a spot with Showers Ledbetter Maye Riggs.
I think there some hyperbole when people were speaking about Vernon as a WR he is a CB and thats where he will play.
I do not think any of the incoming freshmen are good enough to jump the people already on the team to get a starting job in that short amount of time. The kids already on the team were great prospects as well they just had veterans in front of them. Vernon should see the field in nickle. I actually think Neal will be in the box more than Harris. Harris played deep safety in high school and Neal played in the box in high school. I think Washington is a safety.
