BD on taking KB off the point
This is why I love BD...he gets it and will adjust
On taking Kenny Boynton off the point some going forward:
"We got some stops, we got out. It was a tough shooting night for Kenny Boynton. He's had a couple tough shooting nights. Probably got to relieve him a little bit off the point. What I mean by that is he's getting pressured a lot. I've got to probably have someone else help handle the basketball and let him rest off the ball a little bit, put him back on the ball, because right now I think the amount of minutes he's playing at the point is affecting his shooting right now. He's got a lot on his plate: running the team, dealing with the pressure, getting us in and out of the offense, pressing. There's a lot for him. With Scottie having a broken finger, I didn't know how well he would be handling the basketball. We tried to play him off the ball tonight, but I've got to find a way to help Kenny out a little bit."

The problem this team has regarding the point is that aside from Wilbekin, no other player can handle it.
Walker played point his senior year in HS, but that is surely not his best position, and Ogbuze has been something of a disappointment, at least to me, so far. Hopefully, by mid SEC season he can pick it up enough to spell Boynton and Wilbekin at the point.

That Arizona loss was like an Elite8 loss in the last two seasons. The refs didn't help Florida much (8 to 21 FTA advantage helped Arizona stay in the game) against Arizona's physical play of holding, grabbing players, & even when our point guards would get knocked off balance - still no whistles. Yet, UF had a chance to pull this game off with a seven point lead in the last two minutes. It was tough in-bounding the basketball with a tall post player fronting the in-bounder (i.e, Murphy or Rosario). It looked like Arizona finally wore out Florida's point guard with the constant, physical harassing play.
This loss feels as bitter as an elite8 loss and it may have cost Florida a shot at a #1 seed later in the season. But perhaps Florida can learn from this in moving forward by trying to train another ball handler for point guard duty. Could it be Mike Rosario? or Braxton Ogbueze? Whoever it is will have to be a reliable ball handler & be able to run some of the offense for a period of time.
Like Coach Donovan said, by relieving some of Kenny Boynton's PG duty than perhaps his offense can improve by playing more off the ball. I think Boynton & Wilbekin have done an admirable job of running Florida's offense and in setting up other players for good shots. Now that the schedule somewhat gets easier, it may be a good idea do just that.

obviously the 'finger' factored into last nights rotation. put too much burden on KB. he was/we were okay for most of the game. last minute of each half we unravelled. something to work on/correct.

Seems to me the ending was a team thing as much as it was anything else. Kenny missed the front end of a one-and-one but the inability to get the ball in was definitely not just his problem

Played a great first half up until the last 2 minutes. Shoulda been a 10 point lead going into the half. The second half see the results of the first half. Tough loss but this was a tough hard fought game. Arizona will make a deep run in the tourney also... We will be fine.
