new story on web and I posted the question here, but it was promptly deleted. Did I break any rule or why was it deleted?

Yes, the Muschamp interview story; if any thread to such is deleted due to being false, its kind of hard to hear that it was false. The story has legs on other sikes, such as UK's.

How is a story deemed bogus. And if it truly false, would it not serve the Gator fans better, to call it out rather than to quell any questions?

No. It does not serve anything positive for Gator fans to discuss a story that false. And yes......it is truly a false story.

Think about the timing of the story....with signing day within view. These kinds of stories pop-up every year.

It was never reported in the Chicago Trib. They would know about it if it happened. The rest is internet sabotage of UF recruiting. Kill it as quickly as possible. Anyone who is reasonably informed knows what this is.

I wasn't thinking so much of a normal thread open for discussion, but a pinned thread stating that it is false.

It's difficult to be informed without information.

I understand what you're saying. But if you spend enough time on here, it doesn't take long to figure out what it true and what is not.

If we pinned stories to prove their validity, the entire front page would be nothing but pinned threads. There are a lot of threads started here every day where someone is trying to be the first break a story. Some are true, and a lot of them are total internet lies.

We can/will remove a thread if we think it's no good. If it turns out to be legit, we will restore it so it can be discussed.

let me understand this.. a thread is deleted and then another thread opened up to discuss the deleted thread.

we should delete this thread also.. kudos to the mods for not putting up with BS rumors that only hurt us.
