The Manti Te’O Saga - merged threads.
Quote:
Te’o's family, and his father in particular, were floored when a native Hawaiian newspaper, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser, printed an incredibly embarrassing picture of the island’s native son following Alabama’s 42-14 drubbing of the Golden Domers.
The picture showed Crimson Tide running back Eddie Lacy upright, powering over Te’o, who is on the ground in a pile of dust. It is not exactly the most flattering picture of Te’o — and it was not necessary, especially the way Te’o's father, Brian, sees it.
Brian Te’o is now imploring those on Honolulu to cancel their subscriptions

It probably WAS taken out of context.
It should have read, "shown here is the 15th time in the game that ND Defensive player and runner-up in the Heisman Trophy and Hawaii native Manti Te'o was on the ground after an Alabama runner had just gained a first down. Picture is from early in the 2nd quarter of the BCS National Championship Game"
Then it would be in full context and as close to accurate as possible.

I don't disagree with the picture, but if the article ridiculed him, them I could understand his position. Manti teo is a great role model and did/said all the right things when interviewd. He's a good guy and should be portrayed as such. Just my opinion.

Couldn't believe when they showed all his awards during the NC game that it wasn't followed by.... "boy these voters were wrong"
Was there a flattering photo of him doing anything positive of any significance? He may be a hell of a good guy, but he's not an SEC caliber player.

I don't remember who posted the joke, but it was hilarious.
"Is that a tattoo on Te'o's arm or tread marks from Lacy and Yeldon?"
Classic....

Great/good players have bad games too. In this case, it just happened to be in the championship game. To say he's not an SEC caliber player is laughable. He got invited to New York, but he's not SEC material? Tell me, please.....what, exactly, would make him an SEC caliber player? I'm all ears....

Doing well against good competition. Something their schedule couldn't provide.
Maybe upper echelon SEC player would be a better statement cause... maybe Vandy.

It's not often you see accurate media reporting nowadays. Credit the paper, that's what most of the rest of the non-Domer world saw Te'o doing all night. Lying down, watching Bama sail past him...

I think he had at least 10 tackles. Kid had a productive game, but he didn't make many impactful plays.
