One thing I can say about Bama is that they are not afraid to play anyone anywhere or anytime.....they open 2013 with Va Tech, open 2014 vs. W Virginia , and now 2015 vs. Wisconsin...

I would love to see our boys go out and play a big time team to open the season. Like an Oregon, OKie st, or OSU, that way we could open the season with a bang.

And has been said so many other times on these posts, Bama does NOT have an in-state OOC rival or a neutral site game.

Wisconsin isn't really any better than FSU. Bama does NOT play a schedule any harder than UF!

Really? Not even once in say every 3 or 4 years? Are we that much poorer than Alabama or Georgia or LSU?

And yes, I know that we have to play FSU, and yes, I know we play a tough schedule already, and yes, I know that LSU and Alabama don't have major in-state OOC rivals like we do with FSU (though Georgia does with GaTech), etc. etc. I've heard all the excuses. I still think we should occasionally substitute a decent team from a BCS conference other than the ACC for the Citadels, UABs, Furmans, etc.

No one said anything about a schedule being harder than UF... Just play someone other than Florida St! Jeremy Foley knows Florida can hand Florida St their asses regularly, that's why he sets it and won't ever change it. Switch it up. As a fan of the gators, their football season would intrigue me more to see that happen everyone once in a while.

And when you say we should "stop playing teams like Tulane" to pick up another game like this, then I take that as you implying that we should be playing an OOC schedule as tough as Bama ... which we already do.

Just to clarify, last year here were the OOC opponents for UF, Bama and LSU:
UF - BGSU, ULL, JSU and @ FSU
Bama - Michigan (neutral site), WKU, FAU and Western Carolina
LSU - North Texas, Washington, Idaho and Towson (ALL at home! LSU played 8, count them 8 home games!)

Exactly.

Now we'll start seeing the fans who want to do away w/ the Florida/Georgia tradition....for the sake of adding a game vs. Clemson, Wisconsin, West Virginia or whoever to open the season. FL/GA is one of the top-10 best traditions in college football..but these "fans" are so quick to want to give it up.

Alabama doesn't have an every-year rivalry game vs. a non-conference opponent like we do. THAT is why they can do these games. They also get paid a pretty penny for their participation.

I can't get FSU off I don't do the schedules?! If I did trust me their worthless butts would be off.... In a heart beat... They feed off us. And I know the schedules of all the teams, neutral sure means nothing. They played a big opponent, LSU plate Washington at home, and yes at home but still played a big tim opponent. That's all a lot of fans want is just to see a big time opponent.

If you want to play these "big time opponents" you have to be willing and able to schedule a home-and-home. LSU played at Washington in 2009 and this was the return trip. The only alternative is scheduling a one-time neutral site game, which isn't possible for UF.

Unless UF is willing to give up the 7th home game, which by the way UF is doing this year to play at Miami, UF is unable - with the combination of FSU and UGA in Jax - to schedule a home-and-home with anybody.

In the last 10 seasons, Alabama has played 1 season with more than one BCS opponent OOC on their schedule. That second team was Duke. During that same time frame they played 2 seasons where they had ZERO BCS teams on the schedule.

Conversely, UF has played our 2 BCS opponents OOC 3 times in the past 10 years and are about to do it again.

Maybe our OOC schedule is boring and predictable, but it is what it is. I don't see anything changing unless something drastic happens to Miami football.

Yes I really hate FSU.... Lol I just wish they would schedule someone other than FSU since they live off that one game the whole season. To me FSU winning the ACC means absolutely nothing in all honesty. I guess I took Will Muschamp's words too serious..... =(

In the years when UF would normally play 8 home games sure playing in one of the Kick off classic's would be great....ESPN I am sure is paying big bucks to Bama for playing in these games...I bet UF could make more money too rather than settle for the lil poor sisters..

UGA hasn't done any major stadium projects in a while so they can get by with revenue from only 6 home games.

But they have plans on the table so that may change before long, unless the economy and lower ticket demand make them hold off for a while.

Our schedule could be tweaked a bit, but we play usually one of, if not the, most difficult schedules in the country. I would like to see FSU off the schedule every other year and maybe substitute another quality opponent in that off year.

Foley clearly stated when the 12th game was added that our additional home game was to pay for Title IX: woman's lacrosse.

So, if we lose the revenue from the 7th game how do we pay for woman's lacrosse?

Pass the hat at one of the home games. We could probably come up with a cool million or so that could fund a couple minor, irrelevant, stupid sports, that we are mandated to pay for.
