Awesome...pretty much everything I referenced in my first post cataloging the missed calls was reiterated by Donovan.
I guess for all the ostrich types on here that want to pretend officiating wasn't a significant variable in the overall outcome (if not the main variable), Donovan's just being a sore loser, whiny, or "does this every time after a loss."
Add up all the points the refs outright handed to Ole Miss and it's at least 11-15. That's not even including the obvious technical you could have called on Henderson for any number of taunting actions he did (really, take your pick...there were no less than 3-4 times when he could have been t'ed up).
We left what? 9 points at the FT line? Yes, that's on us (as is any points they got off turnovers)...but it pales in comparison to the 11-15 points the refs handed to Ole Miss.
During the regular season, bad calls tend to even out more often than not...but in the CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME, we shouldn't be accepting or tolerating of anything but the officials giving their 100% best performance out there and that, quite clearly, didn't happen.

Where was all of this talk during the Bama game when we shot 26 FT's and Bama shot 10?

Probably in the same place as all the talk about how Bama choked away their lead on the road late in the game.

Actually, there was a thread on here that discussed that very topic--and the general consensus was that the refs probably gave us a few more breaks than they should have.
I'm sure you would have noticed had you been on the board after the game.
Not only that...but the large disparity in fouls came from the refs being fairly consistent in both halves calling the game fairly tight. Bama got roughly equal numbers of fouls in both halves...and it isn't surprising since they're always a physical team. Florida wasn't really playing as physical because we were hurting for depth at that point and couldn't afford many of our players in foul trouble. Contrast that with the game this past weekend when the refs, who'd been pretty stand-offish in the first half suddenly started making a number of critical calls or no-calls midway through the second half, which keyed an Ole Miss run to bring them back in the game. Completely out of flow or rhythm from how they officiated in the first half.

I do not remember this being the "general consensus."

Honestly there are very few instances in which the refs can be blamed for a loss. I believe that Ole Miss got a slight benefit from the whistle Sunday. However, great teams have to overcome a few bad calls. The real issue I had was with Henderson. He is an arrogant jerk. Someone mentioned Noah in this thread when talking about Henderson. It is an insult to mention Joakim in the same paragraph as that arrogant insecure a$$hole. Noah played with authentic passion, while being a great, unselfish team player. He reactions were natural and showed genuine excitement about the game. Henderson's outburst are all about him and are boastful while being full of arrogance and pride. I am also relatively certain that Noah's IQ is 30 to 50 points higher than Henderson's. I do not like that guy at all!

We may have not received all the calls but we lost because we could not score or defend in the paint. I get tired of us blaming the refs on every loss.

Every loss? Which losses were blamed on the refs? Certainly not Kansas State and Arkansas. I don't recall folks blaming the Arizona loss on the refs...nor the Missouri loss...nor the Tennessee loss...nor the Kentucky loss. Just Ole Miss?

There was definitely a ref post after the kentucky loss, which I thought equally absurd.
Would have to check the others, but hopefully none after arky.

What did that single ref post say? That it was the refs fault that we lost? Come on, we're reaching now, aren't we? Either way, let me know what you find, I honestly don't recall it being a ref blame fest this season.

The idea that you can look at both teams overall foul count or total free throws and determine whether or not the game was officiated well is erroneous. Some teams foul more than others. We tend to play pretty clean as a whole. Billy seems to emphasize not fouling. Other coaches teach their players to be aggressive and push the envelope. Good officials are consistent throughout the game and attempt to make the correct call or no call every play. Bad referees get caught up in the crowd and whether or not they owe a team a foul, or want to even the game out by calling more fouls on one team.
