Kenny Boynton (again, sorry, but...)
GREAT representative for UF. Humble, team-first kid. Very talented. If he had worked on his shooting technique starting 1st or 2nd year, he would be my favorite of all time.
I heard somewhere (I think van Gundy commentating one night) that shooting is one of the EASIEST things to fix in basketball. If this is true, no reason why we should not have scrubbed that terrible technique out of him. I think Brewer is an EXCELLENT example of a guy who LEARNED to shoot much better. He went from journeyman to a top NBA shooter/hustler off the bench for the Nuggets.

He ain't fixing it in time for us though. Hope he sticks to driving the lane because his three isn't falling or even coming close.

His 3s are like darts. Almost no arc. If he were launching grenades he'd have run the Taliban out of Afghanistan.

He was over 50% for the weekend from beyond the arc, right?

Boynton for some reason has always shot contested threes better than open ones.
I think it forces him to have a higher release point when someone has a hand in his face.

KB did try working on his shot. He hired a shot coach the summer after his freshmen year, and maybe again after his sophomore year. I think it was decided for him to just go with the motion he had throughout HS. I mean, it was working for him last year when he shot 40% (although unfortunately for us, he had a slump during the NCAA tourney).
I'm not sure why they decided to just go back to his normal mechanics.

I just wanted him to take more shots today. I thought the ball should have been in his hands a lot more and letting him drive and create plays. I could care less about mechanics. Ive seen some great shooters and they all dont have the same style.
Live by the three and die by the three. I think we killed ourselves today by shooting to many threes.

I didn't think he did but must of been from Bama stats. Don't know what the percentage was today but it couldn't have been good. Better than 25%?

Box score says he was 3 of 9 on 3s and 5 of 11 overall.

We lost the game shooting more 3s than 2s. Better FACT.

Although if we shot 70% FT we would have won. Hurts too that because we take so many 3s we are the least fouled team in the SEC and the Top 25.

True, but we were afraid to go inside. See Murphy's uncontested 8-ft jumper that goes 10 feet. PY kicks the ball out too many times. I thought the first 2 baskets were a good sign, but were only a tease.

hah good point.. we always start with some inside dish to PY... then we forget about generating any true inside presence as the game goes on.

When he is up tempo, he is more successful with his 3s. When he is in the half court offense, he is not as efficient. He is a better 3 point shooter when he is moving, gets the ball and then shoots. Fraizer is a better 3 point shooter when he is in a spot, is delivered the ball and then shoots.
Murphy and Rosario are more versatile. They can both score from outside under either scenario. Wilberkin is good when he can get both arms fully extended.

Actually I would agree - but I have a slightly different take. I think Junior shoots it better when he's being agressive off the bounce. Every game where I see him taking it stong to the basket he seems to shoot it with better rhythm from deep.
