enjoy the ride
No matter what seed we get just enjoy the ride. The tournament is a roller coaster you just never know how it will shake out.
This team could make a run to the final four or it could get knocked out the first weekend. Just remember that we have Billy D guiding this thing and loads of talent will keep coming in.
20 years ago who would have thought we would be complaining about a 3 seed.

WERD...the '04s really spoiled us, didn't they?
Folks, WE ARE GOING DANCING, and almost surely as a top 3 seed. Would you all prefer we play in the NIT from now on? C'mon...

Agree. I have a buddy at work from Georgia Tech. He'd love to trade with us. I'm hoping to make it to the 2nd weekend...makes the tourney so much more fun.

Agreed completely. Most fanbases take losses hard, but ours treats them like football losses. Entire lack of perspective. This team is unbelievably competitive and fun to watch.

Agreed regarding enjoy the ride. We are a 3 seed and that means one of the top 12 teams not too shabby. I'm looking forward to this.
However, we did lose the SEC Tournament championship today. This was no ordinary loss. As fans we should treat this one like a football loss. It was a chance to win the conference tourney title and we kind of blew it.

And it was against a team that needed it far worse than us. It wasn't a neutral game in any respect, nor does it have a blessed thing to do with what happens next weekend or going forward. In that respect is absolutely nothing like a football game, which does.

Rserina, it was for the SEC tournament title. It was a very important game. We wanted it bad. I don't think We wanted it any less bad than Ole Miss. I refuse to believe that.

Are you serious? No one said it wasn't important, but Ole Miss was playing for its tourney spot, not just a tourney title.
And, again, it wasn't football important because it had absolutely nothing to do with the rest of our season.

Florida wanted this one equally as bad as Ole Miss. They didn't out effort us. They outplayed us. We played hard, very hard. We wanted it just as bad. I'm certain the UF players are aware that not only were they playing for sec tourney title, but to win that elusive close one that everyone keeps reminding them about. I can assure you, they are aware of that and wanted to prove the doubters wrong VERY badly.
As for it being football important, you play for four things in basketball that make your season "football" important as you put it. These are different sports so what's important in one isnt necessarily the same importance in the other. So, no we weren't bounced from the big dance by the loss (like football Bama wasn't bounced two years ago when they lost to LSU at home, was that football important?).
To look at basketball through an identical lens as football is impractical. In hoops the four big goals are regular season title, then conference tourney title, Final Four and if you are super lucky National Title.
Huge loss today.

I agree, another fold, and it can't do much for their confidence.

Don't bother arguing. When I talked about the same thing last week I was blasted.
We have a fan base that is awesomely passionate, but the "football mentality" will never go away.
Basketball is one of those games where any team can beat any team due to so many different factors and it happens quite often. It's the nature of the game. It would be nice to win more of these close ones, but I always say, let them happen before the big tourney and hope that some of the luck comes your way.
The fact that year in and year out Billy does what he does with this program at a "football school" is so completely lost on most folks.
When he is no longer the coach at UF, I can't imagine what this board will look like unless Foley makes another ridiculously fortunate hire.

All said and true, but damn I hate losing. Especially to Ole Miss.
Someone on the team----give em the speech.

Exactly, I thought after 2000, that people did not understand it is not that easy. It take both skill and luck to advance in this tourney. Then came 4 straight years of not making the second weekend and everyone was so down on UF's program. Then the 05-07 run happened. So you never know.

Well put! If this teams makes the sweet 16, then we had a good year. Elite 8= very good year. Final Four a great year. NCAA championship- a year we will never forget.
