Refs make bad calls...that's basketball...but we did not lose because of the refs. We had a big lead and frittered it away with bad shots and missed free throws. Many of us thought they had gotten over that hump yesterday in the Bama game, which was a great come-from-behind victory. Apparently, that finish wasn't close enough to really test them. I am pretty much convinced that they will fold in crunch time in the tourney. I'm still waiting for them to prove me wrong.

You asked if I thought Ole Miss won because they were better, and I said no I thought they won because they outplayed us today and a few questionable calls (When you see Billy D complaining multiple times you know the officiating is a little questionable).
Ill agree with you that we will likely fold in crunch time, because to this point thats all weve done against relatively inferior competition. I hope that Im wrong, and we have the talent to do so, but you cant just expect it to happen in the tourney if youve never been able to do it in the regular season.

anything after the first weekend is gravy, I hope, for Kenny's sake, we make the final four but wouldn't bet on it, we NEED to make the sweet 16, really no excuse if we don't

Reality for this team is sweet sixteen, but no further.

What do the past two seasons have to do with anything? It isn't the same team, nor does it face the same opposition.
For my money, a successful tournament run is always to beat your seed, then everything else is a bonus. That means getting to the second weekend. But in this case I think our seeding is more like a two than a three given the factors surrounding it, so I would ideally like to make it again to the regional finals.
Regardless, expectations are so elusive in a single elimination tournament. Everyone talked about the Elite Eight as overachieving the last two seasons, then crowed that we should have made it to the Final Four.

Well be Elite 8 was a good finish for us AND we should have made the FF. It doesn't have to be one or the other.

And we had "IT" the last two seasons when we made the regional finals? Or how about in 2006, when we had a near identical season, ended up with an identical seed, and came one miracle tip-in from losing to South Carolina three times in a season? Man, your posts help me remember why the ignore function is so useful.

Still SEC champs. Never devalue that accomplishment. New season. No excuses now, just win and advance.

That's what I'll give us. We need some work to win it all.

I always like to see my team make it through the first weekend. Past that is icing on the cake.

Preseason, I said we're an elite 8 team and I'm sticking to it.
If we take care of business and someone knocks off Kansas, then we could slip in to the Final Four. I know some of the number guys like our chances, not talking heads but the stats guys.
They usually get all of the upsets wrong and unless you have one team that is heads and tails ahead of everyone, like UK last year, it is not easy to pick.

It's been obvious all year that we have final four talent. Hopefully the media will continue to ignore us. If that happens we may win a title...
