One play that sums up this team
After great effort from Scottie and Casey to force a steal, Scottie freezes up with the ball in his hands in a broken court situation with a chance to win the game forcing Donovan to take a timeout.
In the replay as the TV went to timeout, you could see Scotties eyes were as big as saucers. Hate Henderson all you want, but that kid wouldn't be afraid to have the ball in that situation and that is the one thing UF is missing this year.
That one fearless player to take big shots or who can win the game when the team is struggling. This whole team, despite great effort and coaching, is just plain afraid, and that is why close games doom them.
I hope they play more fearlessly in the tourney.

KB's not fearless -- just tends to take bad shots in those circumstances. I think his elbow was bothering him late in the 2nd half, though.

Wilbekin is from Gainesville and plays fine at home. Walks the ball up the court WAY too much but at home, he is definitely adequate.
Away he should not start. He cannot break a press and is too slow. Against good teams at away venues, he is ,imo, the weak link.

They play so hard most of the time it's hard to watch them late in games. It's clear they want to win and they try hard, they just can't put it together because of how scared they are of losing.
But you know, sometimes losing teaches you how to win. Hopefully they've tasted this bitter pill enough to put together a solid tourney run.
Also, has anyone noticed how little we dribble drive now? Scottie tore Ole Miss up with the dribble drive earlier in the year. What happened to that part of UF's game?

I agree the fear of losing is what's causing this team to "choke". They get really tight and no one wants to be the one to miss a shot.

Well, we do have a fearless shooter and it's KB. Problem is he's the one guy the opposing coach wants to shoot the ball as time expires.

Ole Miss did have quite a few block shots.
I don't know exactly what they were doing differently, but Ole Miss may have "taken away" or ability to dribble drive a bit. I noticed they were playing alot of zone.
It was yet another case though, of a "jump shot" shooting team not being able to win in the close games. Unfortunately I think that this year that is simply the makeup of the team not really having a strong post player on offense - and having an abundance of jump shooters.
We actually got Murphy in pretty good position to get a game tying 2 pointer in the paint, but he just didn't execute (it was well defended, but it was a good high % shot that just didn't go in nor did it draw a foul). Murphy overall just didn't have his shot today, so it was just one of those days.

Henderson isn't afraid to shoot because he shoots well. Sw does not. He should be cautious.

Yeah, I was wondering why he didn't attack when there was so much chaos on the floor. I am certain Donovan didn't want to take a timeout in that situation. Maybe they can ask that in the press conference if it was the plan to take a timeout then or would he have rathered Wilbekin to attack and try to catch Ole Miss out of position.

What a pathetic analysis. Wilbekin's teammates and likely the bench told him to pull the ball back out. Do you ever watch the games or do you just make this stuff up?

I was expecting this to be about Murphy's 4ft air ball as I feel that play fits the title of the thread better.

If Wilbekin improves half as much this off-season as he did this past year, he's going to be a potential All-American. I still believe in him to take that next step.

I noticed that every time Wilbekin gets the ball, he starts fast then always stops and dribbles for a while... It's just like.... FU**ING GO!!!!
