So, if the Gators lose to Ole Miss tomorrow - it looks like a likely 3 seed with an outside possibility of a 4.
If the Gators beat Ole Miss, a 3 seed appears relatively certain, with an outside chance at a #2.
Thats not bad considering the lack of reputation the SEC currently brings to the table. Hopefully a 2 or 3 will prove true, in the Bracket where Gonzaga is #1.

I just do not understand why anyone would look at the profile of UNM and Gonzaga and not make UNM a 1 and Gonzaga a 2.

We won't be any lower than 3, guaranteed. I'm thinking 2 is very good possibility.

1 seeds are going to be
not lining up or ranking regions
Louisville
Gonzaga
Kansas
Miami (if they win)
2 seeds will be
New Mexico
Duke
Indiana
Florida (if we win)
3 seeds will be
Syracuse
Michigan St
Michigan
and either Kansas St. or Ohio St. (leaning OSU but not sure yet)
I actually think that going into today that we had 2 shots at a 1 seed. If Louisville or Miami lost, I think we couldve slipped in. Now, even if Miami loses I think that they will give New Mexico the #1 seed.

I rather take a 3 seed than a 2 seed if that means we will not be in the Midwest region. I want no part in facing the Hoosiers in Indy.

Definitely don't want the Hoosiers in Indy, and hope we are in the opposite half the draw relative to Louisville (who looks to be the nation's best team).

somehow i can see the committee rewarding the gators for winning their conference title - especially if we win the sec-t too w/ a seed over the likes of, say, Duke: you didn't win your regular season title, then you got bounced out of your conference tourney early so we'll drop you down a seed line... might treat georgetown the same - although they at least share the regular season title (right?).

There is no way an OSU, MSU or Michigan should be seeded higher than us, not Duke either, I see us as a solid 2, win or lose today.

I agree. I think the selection committee will favor us (and New Mexico) more than the Palms and Lunardis. I think the Big 10 will get rewarded by getting as many as nine teams in, but won't be rewarded as much in the top seeds as the pundits think. I think, for example, our ranking in the BPI/KenPom and the fact we're the only team in the top 5 in offensive and defensive efficiency are the kind of stats the committee usually likes. We seem like just the kind of team that comes it of Sunday evening with a higher than expected seed.

If Florida wins and Ohio State loses to Wisconsin Florida can steal a #1.

Lunardi has moved us to a number 2 playing gonzaga in the West bracket. Would be fantastic. I want no part of louisville or indiana. Both teams are more talented than us in almost every position except murphy.

New Mexico as a 2 seed? Hahaha. They would be the first 2 out. Pomeroy has them as the 16th best team in the country. Kansas is also pretty weak for a 1 seed.

If we put on a show against Ole Miss...we take Georgetowns' spot.

What Lunardi and Palm say is irrelevant now. Heck neither of them had UF even a 3 two years ago when UF was a 2. I fully expect New Mexico not Gonzaga to be the 1 out west.

Why are so many people (Gator posters) scared of Indiana and Ville? Indiana has been playing poor basketball of late (3-3, should be 2-4) and we should have blown Louisville out last year. I think our boys would want nothing more than to get another crack at Pitino. I say "bring it".
Once the tourney starts, you never know what buzz saw you're going to face. You have to just line em up and get it on.

I've posted this in just about every thread. Why not this one too?
IMO, you guys landed in the easiest region each of the last two years. Last year you inherited the 2 seed and ended up playing a 4 for a chance at the final four. The year before you landed a 2 seed. What was so nice that year wasn't the fact that you were a 2 seed. It was that you faced a very weak 3 seed in BYU (who was without their 2nd best player) and then didn't have to play the 1 or the 4 even for a trip to the final four.
I don't bring this up to rehash painful memories, but to point out that REGION MATTERS.
You want the west this year. I don't see Gonzaga or New Mexico giving you guys much of a challenge compared to other top seeds and the West region is where both of them will be.
Let Miami have a better seed, same for Michigan or whoever - I don't even pay much attention to that. You want to be sent out West.

i'm half-expecting to either be over-seeded or under-seeded going into the tourney. that is, our seeding may likely draw alot of commentary.
i'm not sure which is better either. if you get "disrespect" you get alot of attention about how you were dissed. that gets a team mad. but also gives you a bit of a target as pundits pick you to make a run.
if you get over-seeded, then you get disrespected by the pundits - which gets your team fired up as you're picked to bow out early. gives your opponents confidence that they can knock you off, etc.
