Smile Bama SEC Tournament Game Box Score MVG: Patric Young

Big man Patric Young led the Gators roll over the Alabama Crimson Tide 61-51 in a hard fought victory. Young scored 13 points, pulled down 9 rebounds and had 2 steals with 1 block to earn 76 value credits. Kenny Boynton busted out of a slump with a vengence, scoring his first point of 11-in-a-row at the 15 minute mark of the 2nd half, bringing the Gators from 8 down to a 3-point lead. Kenny earned 48 value credits. After Boynton, the next four Gators were bunched together earning 38 to 30 credits. It was a team effort with Patric and Kenny a cut above the rest.

The Gators finally won a close game. Florida was behind 27-37 before Boynton caught fire leading the Gators on a 15-0 run and out to a 42-37 lead. Boynton scored 16 points in a eight minute span helping the Gators extend their final margin to 10. Florida played well against a physical Tide team and only committed 4 turnovers. The excellent ball control, tough defense and outstanding indivual performances by Young and Boynton were the difference in the game.

Young played big down the stretch but Boynton won that game.

PY was big down the stretch to secure the win, Boynton was the catalyst to give us the lead after going down by 10. cast my vote for KB

I cannot disagree. Kenny was a one-man wrecking crew during a critical stretch of the second half. Patric, however, kept the Gators in the game. The Gators would have lost without the outstanding performances by both players.

It's too bad that Alabama had to beat the Gators to get into the NCAA Tournament. They are better than a lot of those over rated Big 10/11/12 teams going to the dance.

I tend to agree. How about the ACC regarding Over Rated?

Young was kind of helter skelter on offense against LSU; he looked much sounder tonight, getting position for entry passes, etc.

Looks like Rosario should have been docked another 5 points for the turnover he had (per the linked box score).

Surprised Yeguete had no steals. He certainly helped cause a couple. Plus, I think he may have been robbed of one when he pulled the ball from behind a Bama dribbler that the ref called a foul

Pretty sound game by every Gator player. A little surprising to me that Frazier got a couple more minutes of playing time (16 to 14 min) than Prather, but he played very well too. Looks like he's getting used to the pressure of "big games" and big crowds - after looking a bit star-struck (or whatever the proper term is) in our last loss against UK.
