That actually reminds me of a question I had a couple of weeks ago: what ever happened to Terry Jackson? Is he still with the Athletic Association? He was doing something for Meyer that would seem to relate to "player development." It seems to me he would be a great fit for this kind of job.

Basically, this position requires that you set up camps, obtain contact information from recruits and oh, fetch some coffee for the actual coaches.

Due to the new recruiting rules, this is going to become the new standard of big time CFB programs. Each will have a director of player personnel & group of scouts \ recruiters, who do nothing but evaluate film, and maintain constant contact with recruiting targets. Following the NFL model, there will now be a coaching side, and a separate front office side to evaluate talent & recruit, with the HC having ultimate control. Instead of a coaching staff being forced to divide their time in season between coaching & recruiting, now the personnel department will have a full staff of 4-6 guys who spend 60-80 hours per week doing nothing but scouting & recruiting. I wouldn't be surprised to see some non GM NFL front office guys make the jump down to college to start these departments.

I thought I saw Terry Jackson do video last season for Will.
So I guess we don't have these people on our staff yet? Seems like Bama and Texas will be the guys ahead of every body else. I don't know why we are not on top of this.

As much as I dislike even the sound of Urban Meyer's name, the man deserves credit for creativity in the recruiting/player contact sphere. I wonder if he's done the same at OSU.

Bruce Feldman @BFeldmanCBS
Bama has hired Tyler Siskey, who was Ole Miss' Coordinator of Recruiting Development, a source just told CBS.

This is a non-issue. Saban has 96 "analysts" on his "staff" and an unlimited budget. These "analysts" all have coaching backgrounds and are basically waiting for a school like Texas...or ANY college for that matter (getting to a Texas is a bonus) to come hire them. This guy is 30 years old and is now employed by Texas. He will now be able to list Alabama & Texas as employers. He'll likely be a DC or OC within the next 5 years at a major school (look at Florida State's new DC.....he's been a college coach for 4 years...but he coached for Saban).
The bottom line; if Saban is doing it....everyone else will be doing it soon.

What are you talking about? Where on earth did you get from "I love it. When will we get such a dept.?" that I would trade UF's Athletic dept for the longhorns Athletic dept? By dept, I was referring to the player development and recruiting dept which is what the article was about. Did you read the article included in the link?

Bama didn't wait too long to fill this vacancy:
(From Coachingsearch.com):
Alabama: A source has informed me that Ole Miss director of recruiting development Tyler Siskey will join the Alabama staff.

The last thing college football needs is to become what the no-fun-league is...predictable, conservative and all about money. Pro sports , with the exception of baseball, are dull and tainted towards the most powerful players and teams...and I don't even like baseball.
