Lt. Gov. Carroll (R-FL) just resigned.
Looks like she got caught up in some criminal activity.

Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll resigns

Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll has resigned.
The resignation comes two days after Florida Department of Law Enforcement officers interviewed Carroll about her involvement with Allied Veterans of the World, a non-profit that operates internet cafes in Florida.
Officials from Allied Veterans and Nelson Cuba, the president of the Jacksonville Florida Order of Police, were arrested on racketeering charges after an investigation by the IRS and Secret Service.
Carroll gave her resignation letter to Gov. Rick Scott Tuesday. It gives no details about the decision, but in a statement, Adam Hollingsworth, Scott’s chief-of-staff, said fallout from the Allied Veterans investigation spurred the resignation.
“Lt. Gov. Carroll resigned in an effort to keep her former affiliation with the company from distracting from the administration’s important work on behalf of Florida Families,” said Adam Hollingsworth, Scott’s chief-of-staff....

Imagine that, the head of the police union helping to launder money.
did anybody even notice that Kwame, the former mayor of Detroit, was convicted this week or is it so routine now that nobody even cares?

Be best if they would just get rid of the Lt. Governor position altogether.

Florida could do that.
Right now Pam Bondi is next in line to be Governor of Florida if necessary.

Perfect example of why when phone solicited for any charity I ask for audited financials for how much reaches the charity. Not sure but think 80-90% can go to "costs".

So many elements to this story beyond Carroll's alleged political corruption. You've got these internet sweepstakes centers which are just gambling, but found a gray area in the law to exist. They're all over Jacksonville.
The Allied Veterans ones claim to be a charity, but give just 2 percent to veterans ahd pocket the extra hundreds of millions.

The whole union?
So would it be fair to say the entire republican government was involved, you know, to be balanced on where you are placing blame? IOW, is it when pubs commit wrong-doing, it's just a bad apple and not reflective of all pubs, but if a union official involved or a dem it's all about the entire union?

It's a kiss of death. No former Lt Gov in FL has been elected to another office since the 19th century. Maybe we should keep it?

In an organization as tightly controlled as the unions are the leadership is usually a direct reflection of the power brokers that put them there so although I would agree that it should not reflect to every member it does reflect the lack of character or judgement in the people most senior in the organization. Something about being judged by the company you keep. Should these guys get to retire and keep their fat pensions?

Or it just reflects the person engaged in the corruption. It might reflect other things such as institutional problems, but simply saying it doesn't make it true.
